First Meeting

Ann, Addy, and Angel came to get Mother and I and bring us inside to the dining hall for dinner. I had wondered if the clothing I wore was entirely appropriate but Addy waved me off.

"The King asked for this design especially," She turned to look at my mother, "You are very pretty, just like your daughter."

Mother blushed a bit. I wondered if she really could comprehend the trouble we were in.

We were led up a lush carpeted floor into a hallway with lights hanging down from the ceiling like giant jellyfish. They cast an eery red glow that didn't quite reach the floor. All the cloth was that same deep red and occasionally we passed a hallway table with red flowers. Gold is embroidered on every detail on every surface. Even the soft carpet had golden flowers. The doors were twice my height and fitted with metal, the walls were made with fine stone work.

This was a true and proper castle. The kind I had read about in books.
