Chapter 13: Meeting Albert (3)

" I will excuse myself." Alëna said and left the dance floor.

Alëna made her way through the crowds, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't shake the feeling that Albert's eyes were still on her, watching her every move.

As she entered the bathroom, Alëna caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes sparkled with a mixture of excitement and nerves.

She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. What was wrong with her? She was acting like a schoolgirl with a crush.

But as she exited the bathroom, Alëna couldn't help but scan the crowd for a glimpse of Albert.

As Alëna scanned the crowd, her eyes landed on Albert, who was now standing by the bar, chatting with his dance partner. The blonde woman was laughing and smiling up at him, her eyes sparkling with flirtation.

But as Alëna watched, Albert's gaze drifted away from his companion and met hers across the room. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the noise and chaos of the party fading into the background.

Alëna felt a jolt of electricity run through her body as their eyes locked, the connection between them crackling with tension. She couldn't look away, couldn't break the spell that seemed to be drawing them together.

The blonde woman's eyes narrowed slightly as she followed Albert's gaze to Alëna. For a moment, the two women locked eyes, a spark of tension flashing between them.

Albert, seemingly oblivious to the undercurrents, smiled warmly at Alëna before turning back to his dance partner.

"Excuse me for a moment," he said, his voice low and smooth. "I need to refill my drink."

As Albert walked away, the blonde woman's eyes lingered on Alëna, a hint of a challenge flickering in their depths. Alëna, feeling a surge of determination, met the woman's gaze squarely, refusing to back down.

The woman got off the seat and walked over to Alena.

She glided across the room, her eyes fixed intently on Alëna. As she approached, Alëna could feel a sense of unease building in her stomach.

"Can I help you?" Alëna asked, her voice polite but wary.

The woman's gaze swept over Alëna, her expression assessing. "I'm Alyssa," she said, her voice dripping with sophistication. "And you are...?"

Alëna's eyes narrowed slightly, unsure of how much to reveal. "I'm Alëna," she said, her voice light.

Alyssa's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with interest. "Ah, Alëna.." she repeated, her voice dripping with curiosity.

"Ooh Alëna, I guess you are new .. new."

" Yeah, It's my first time here." Alena answered confidently.

Alyssa's smile grew wider, but her eyes flashed with a warning.

"Listen, Alëna," she said, her voice low and menacing. "I don't know what you're playing at, but I want to make one thing clear: Albert is off-limits."

Alëna's eyes widened in surprise, but she stood her ground. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice firm.

Alyssa's laughter was cold and mirthless. "Don't play dumb with me," she spat.

"I've seen the way you've been looking at him. I've seen the way he's been looking at you."

Alëna felt a surge of anger at Alyssa's accusations, but she kept her cool.

"Even if I was interested in Albert, which I'm not," she said, her voice icy, "I don't think it's any of your business."

Alyssa's face twisted with rage. " What did you say ?"

Alyssa's face twisted with rage, and she raised her hand to slap Alëna.

But before she could make contact, Albert appeared out of nowhere, his hand closing around Alyssa's wrist like a vice.

"Alyssa, stop," he said, his voice low and commanding.

"This is not the time or the place."

Alyssa's eyes flashed with anger, but she seemed to shrink back into herself, her wrist still trapped in Albert's grasp. "You're defending her?" she spat, her voice venomous.

"You're actually defending her?"

Albert's expression was calm and implacable.

"I'm defending basic human decency," he said. "You're not going to attack someone in my party"

Alyssa's face went white with rage, but she seemed to realize that she was beaten. With a jerky motion, she pulled her wrist free from Albert's grasp and spun on her heel, stalking away into the crowd.

The room seemed to hold its breath for a moment, and then the music and chatter started up again, as if nothing had happened.

But Alëna was shaken, her heart still racing from the confrontation.

Albert turned to Alëna, his eyes scanning her face as if searching for any signs of distress.

"I'm so sorry about that," he said, his voice low and sincere. "Alyssa can be... unpredictable."

Alëna shook her head, still feeling a bit shaken. "It's not your fault," she said. "I can take care of myself."

Albert's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I'm sure you can," he said.

"But I still don't like seeing you get hurt. Would you like to get out of here for a bit? Take a walk outside?"

" No thanks." Alëna said trying to be polite.

" I wouldn't wish to cause more trouble with you and your girlfriend." Alëna said.

Albert smirked and said. " Alyssa is just a friend."

" Really, But she just told me to a keep a distance from you." Alëna reported.

Albert made a soft chuckle. " Then I don't know her cause." He replied.
