Chapter 113: I’ll Let It Slide This Time

Ludmilla froze, her eyes momentarily dazed.

She doubted her own eyes—had she seen it wrong?

She walked out.

Then, she walked back in.

She double-checked to make sure she wasn't hallucinating.

It was real!!!

Ludmilla's expression shifted from blank disbelief to shock, then to outright incredulity and outrage.

The commander—how could he do something so shameless?!

Taking advantage of a helpless girl like this?!

Hearing Mo Chen's flimsy excuse, she felt a surge of uncontrollable anger boil up from within, nearly causing her chest to explode.

Did he really expect her to believe such nonsense?!

She had asked him to treat Alice—not drag her into bed!

She wanted to yell at him.

But instead of words, she opted for something far more persuasive.

From outside the door, Ludmilla grabbed her machine gun. With a sharp "click," she loaded a round and prepared to send Mo Chen straight to hell.

"Wait! Wait, wait, wait!"

Mo Chen panicked the moment he saw Ludmilla was serious. He quickly removed Alice's wandering hands.

"It's not me—it's Alice! She's the one who started it!"

He also muttered under his breath to Alice.

"Stop messing around."

Half-awake, Alice groaned softly, as if a parent had just taken away her favorite toy.

"Hmm~~"

Her delicate fingers stretched out again, grabbing hold, her scrunched-up face finally relaxing.

"Hehe… carrot…"

Mo Chen's attempt to explain only made Ludmilla even angrier. Her pale face turned a shade of green.

Started it? A sick girl—seriously?! Did he think she was an idiot?!

Ludmilla's patience snapped, and her grip on the machine gun tightened, ready to deliver righteous judgment on the spot.

So that's why Mo Chen had told her not to come in—because he was busy doing this?!

"Commander… carrot, carrot…"

Alice murmured in her sleep, her tiny hands still fumbling.

Mo Chen was panicking.

Carrot? She's still going on about carrots?!

Couldn't she see that the commander's "carrot" was about to get chopped off?!

Hearing Alice's voice, Ludmilla faltered, her eyes shifting toward the girl's face.

Alice mumbled softly in her sleep, her skin no longer flushed red but back to its snowy-white complexion. Her expression, once pained, now looked serene and cheerful, like a child who had just found her favorite toy.

Ludmilla's finger hesitated on the trigger.

"Alice…?"

Hearing Ludmilla's voice, Alice slowly opened her sleepy eyes. She rubbed them gently, tilted her head slightly, and looked at Ludmilla standing by the door. Her eyes gradually cleared.

"Eh? The Queen?"

Ludmilla froze for a moment, hesitantly asking, "Alice, are you feeling better now?"

Alice furrowed her delicate eyebrows slightly, her eyes filled with confusion as she mumbled, "Better? What are you talking about? Alice doesn't get it."

Ludmilla immediately stepped forward and carefully checked her condition.

"Alice, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

Mo Chen quickly set Alice down, no longer holding her.

She skipped happily toward Ludmilla, completely oblivious to the fact that she was still stark naked.

Hearing Ludmilla's question, Alice tilted her head in confusion, then shook it gently as if she didn't understand what was going on.

"Nope, I feel fine—actually, it's pretty cool now."

Ludmilla carefully examined Alice's body.

After confirming there were no issues, she finally let out a sigh of relief. Her tense nerves relaxed, and her legs almost gave out beneath her. She had to support herself against the rocky wall just to stay standing.

Alice had been with her for a long time—years, in fact. During that time, she had come to see Alice as more than just a comrade. To her, she was family, almost like a daughter.

When she first saw Alice fall ill, no one had been more worried than Ludmilla.

Alice, now fully recovered, happily started sharing her dream.

"Queen, I just had a dream! I was picking carrots—there was this really big, thick carrot, but I couldn't pull it out…"

Mo Chen quickly interrupted.

"Uh… can we maybe… let me put some clothes on first?"

Ten minutes later.

Mo Chen had changed into a new outfit—a sleek, full-body black combat suit.

The suit was smooth and form-fitting, covering him from head to toe. Metal rings with soft, glowing blue lights were embedded at the chest, arms, waist, and legs.

It was gear Mo Chen had exchanged from the system store—costing 5,000 points.

GANTZ Suit.

It came straight out of the Gantz universe and was one of the series' basic combat outfits.

Despite being labeled as "basic," the GANTZ Suit was anything but ordinary. It offered incredible survivability and enhanced combat performance, fully embodying the saying, "The best things in life are free."

The GANTZ Suit not only amplified the wearer's strength, agility, and reflexes but also featured mental synchronization that responded to the wearer's thoughts.

It could push physical limits up to ten times their natural capacity.

Jumping, lifting, and speed—everything could be boosted. Even an elderly person wearing it could pull a 15-ton monster or punch through a car with ease.

For someone with Mo Chen's enhanced physique, the benefits were even more exaggerated.

The suit also had built-in defensive properties, capable of withstanding several rounds of gunfire without breaking.

For now, though, its greatest value was simply letting Mo Chen cover himself up.

Shortly after, Ludmilla emerged from the shelter with Alice following behind her.

Alice was now wearing the same type of GANTZ Suit as Mo Chen.

Since her old thermal combat suit had been burned up, and there weren't any other clothes available, this was the only option.

Fortunately, the suit's design resembled her old outfit—a form-fitting leather look—so Alice didn't seem to mind wearing it.

"Thank you."

Ludmilla hesitated for a moment, clearly feeling awkward. Her eyes shifted away as she finally spoke.

"I'm sorry… I was wrong about you earlier."

She had double-checked Alice's body and confirmed there were no injuries or signs of mistreatment.

"Cough, cough. It's fine."

Mo Chen cleared his throat, equally uncomfortable about the earlier misunderstanding.

"It's good that you admitted your mistake. Just be more careful next time. I'll let it slide this time."

Ludmilla snapped her head back to look at him, her beautiful eyes wide in disbelief.

How thick-skinned could he be?!
