Chapter 81: Lines Drawn in Blood

The weight of Cassian's ultimatum pressed against Aveline's chest like a hammer hitting a nail. The war council chamber had long emptied, with the members leaving the place due to accusations and lots of murmurs from different sides, leaving only silence afterward, but her mind remained in serious trouble.

She sat alone at the entrance of the training grounds, the moon displaying silver light over the valley below. The wind was cool and refreshing as it blew over her skin, but it did nothing to reduce the fire of anger that was burning inside her. She looked around the training ground with the weapons hanging but her mind was lost from her deep thoughts.

Did Gabriel betray her? Was everything she heard really true? She sat at the entrance and thought out loud with an open mouth from the surprise revelation she had.
