Aron POV
As soon as I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was Sara's beautiful face. I wanted to ask her why she betrayed me. When I attempted to move, I realized I had been in an accident. I glanced around, noticing the stark white walls of the hospital.
Why does my head feel so heavy? When I reached out to touch my skull, I found my head encased in badges. The accident resulted in a broken left hand. I can't see who's standing behind her outside the intensive care unit because I'm having trouble opening my eyes fully. I only saw her at first, but when I tried to focus on the other person, I noticed her ex-boyfriend was standing with her. She placed her head on his shoulder, and he patted her back to console her. My mind replayed the scene at the restaurant.
I never expected her to be so shameless. As I remembered her cheating, my heart was filled with bitterness, but at the same moment, I felt an overwhelming love for her, prompting me to ask the nurse to send Sara to the ICU. I can not be frustrated with her for a long time. She looked at me with a pity-filled glance. Her puffy eyes gave me the impression that she was sad to see me like this. But my mind keeps reminding me of her betrayal, so I can not hold back my bitterness and vent my venom on her.
When I told her that I would soon put an end to all of her misery, she appeared confused. Jerry cut us off before I could inform her about my new decision.
Why Sara fled the intensive care unit upon Jerry's arrival is beyond me. They did not even look at each other. I am sure there is some conflict between them.
"Jerry, is everything alright between you two?" When Sara left the ICU, I questioned her in a serious tone.
"Yes, everything is fine between us." She smiled nervously upon seeing me.
"Jerry, are you hiding something from me?" I looked at her with a doubtful glance, noticing her anxious smile.
"Don't stress yourself; you need to rest now." She carefully touched my injuries and then left the ICU.
A few minutes later, the doctor called the nurse to shift me to the private ward. I looked over at Sara, who was sitting on the bench in the hallway as they escorted me to my private room. My heart grew even more enraged upon seeing her with her boyfriend again. The deep love I had for her again prevented me from hurting her, even though I wanted to punish her for betraying me.
Because of the medication's effects, I fell asleep as soon as I entered my room. When I woke up the following morning, I discovered Sara dozing off on the stool beside my bed.
"Sara, what are you doing here?" To wake her, I shook her hand.
"You woke up, Aron." She straightened on the stool and rubbed her eyes.
"I will request to a nurse come to your routine checkup." She hurried out of the room and called the nurse.
Her concern for me bewildered me. If she had no feelings for me, why was she so concerned about me?
The doctor performed my routine checkup and then left the room. My heavy head bandages did not allow me to talk much, so I controlled my desire to question her about Neil.
"Aron, good morning. How are you feeling right now?" Jerry entered my room with fresh flowers.
"Jerry, good morning. I feel much better now." I requested that she change my bed's position so that I could sit on it and relax my back.
"I'm waiting for you outside, Aron. Please ring this bell if you need anything." She noticed Jerry and got off the stool.
They again avoid eye contact with each other. They exchanged no words at all. What happened between them?
"Jerry, why don't you two communicate with each other?" I have a strong suspicion that she is hiding something from me.
"It's nothing like that, Aron. Why are you putting too much pressure on your little brain? It's now time to rest." Again, she forced a grin to mask her anxiety.
"Aron, do you know who that man was?" She peeked outside the room.
So, her boyfriend is still here with her. I can no longer take this suffering. I have to come up with a permanent solution to this problem.
"I'm not sure; perhaps Sara can respond to your query." I was so angry that I tightened my jaw, which hurt my head.
"Sara, who was that man?" When Sara entered the room to offer me soup, Jerry questioned her.
"Don't worry, he is not my uncle. He is simply my friend." She glared at us as she placed the soup bowl on the side table.
Why is she giving me such a hostile look? It's she who cheated on me, so I have to show my anger at her, so I don't understand why she is glaring at me.
"Did you both have fights?" I can't resist the urge to ask her this question.
"More appropriately, ask your dear aunt." Sara left the room in anger before I could ask her anything else.
"I am sorry, Aaron. She found out that I had signed the consent form, and now that she knows the truth, she is upset with both of us for keeping it from her." Jerry cast a pitying glance my way.
"Jerry, it's okay; you don't have to be sad about it. I believe that we didn't commit any wrongdoing by withholding the truth from her, as she is already adept at keeping secrets." I peered through the open door, hoping to catch a glimpse of her boyfriend.
"What are you trying to say? What did she hide from us?" Jerry looked at me in confusion.
"Nothing. Please do me a favor. Bring one file from my locker." I let out a long sigh before making the hardest choice of my life.
"You can't strain your mind right now, Aron. Work at the office may wait until you've fully recovered."
"Jerry, please bring that file for me; it's personal work and not related to official business." I shared my locker password with her and asked her to bring my red file.
