Aron POV
"Sara.." As he pulled the trigger at her, I screamed out of my lungs.
"Uppss. It was empty." His sinister laugh echoed in the room.
"Do you believe I'm foolish? Your hand's purpose is to hold a pen, not a gun." He grabbed her tightly and threatened her.
"Leave me. I have already signed the papers, so please allow us to leave." She implored him to let us all go.
"No way; if I allow them to go, they will use their influence and power to kill me. The moment you gave this bastard your virginity, I felt compelled to take your life." Angrily, he slapped her face. I couldn't even shield her from that monster, which made me feel incredibly powerless at the time.
I had to close my eyes due to excruciating shoulder agony, but I willed myself not to pass out. I never imagined that our tale would come to such a traumatic conclusion. After returning from this villa, I planned a grand wedding, but Neil failed to meet all my expectations.
Seeing him loom over her like a ravenous wolf has my blood boiling, but right now, I am powerless. His whole gang ambushed us with guns, reveling in his rape of Sara.
Why is God punishing her for my sins? Why does she have to deal with so many obstacles in her life when she has done nothing wrong with anyone? Her screams make my heart bleed so much. My eyelids closed by themselves. I was in complete darkness until I heard the unexpected gunshot.
I woke up to find myself lying in a hospital bed. I have bandages on my head and shoulder. My mother was standing next to Jerry on the side stool by my bed, grinning as she observed my expression.
"Sara. Where is she?" I gasped as I glanced around. I remembered hearing the gunshot and then finding myself in the hospital bed.
When I couldn't find Sara nearby, I started to think negative thoughts. I don't want to live without her. Negative thoughts overwhelmed me, and I made an effort to get out of bed.
"Relax, Aaron; she is alive." Jerry grabbed my shoulder and made me lie down in bed.
"I want to meet her. Please call her." I have difficulty believing in Jerry's words until I see her with my eyes; my negative thoughts have not calmed.
"Aron, please calm down; I am alive." The sound of her voice brought me relief. I turned to see her lovely face at the door of the room, but she wasn't there by herself. My dad also accompanied her.
"Dad?" I looked at him in confusion.
"Aron, please don't stress yourself now; we will talk later." He placed his palm on my forehead and gave me a loving look.
When I felt his love for me for the first time, my eyes started to fill with tears.
"I am sorry, son." He took hold of my hand and sat down next to me.
His eyes also shed tears upon seeing me.
"We're sitting outside the room, Aron. Please give us a call if you need anything." Sara motioned for Jerry and Emma to get out of the room.
"Did you forgive me, Dad?" I constantly sought his forgiveness to win his paternal love, and now that he sat beside me, I couldn't hold back my tears.
"It's all my fault for not having trusted you for all these years; Aron, you have nothing to apologize for. I've harbored hatred or doubt towards my close ones throughout my entire life. I had my doubts about Ema lying to me at first. I had always believed you were not my son, but I eventually came to see that Ema wasn't disloyal. To satisfy my desire, I destroyed my family.
Ema made an effort to work things out between us, but my irrational doubt caused me to dissolve our marriage. My hate for you reached new heights when Jerry accused you of raping her later on. I apologize, son, for not seeing your value. I always view you as my enemy, and instead of appreciating your accomplishments, I constantly let you down. Please pardon me. Aron." I quietly listened to him.
He buried his face in his palm and sobbed aloud. I always hoped that one day he would show me his true love, but I never imagined that he would tell me all these things and realize how much of a mistake he made.
What exactly caused him to change his heart?
"It's all right, Dad—we've all made mistakes in our lives." I comforted him by patting his arms.
"Aron, I apologize for often misinterpreting you." His shame is evident in his eyes.
"But how did you find out the truth?" I can't help but wonder why he changed his mind so quickly.
"Sara Grace told me the whole truth."
"Sara? When did she meet you?" I looked at him with confusion.
"In a letter, she informed me about Ema's sentiments. I didn't initially think her letters were real, but after checking the information they said, I realized Emma wasn't guilty. Sara explains to me how Ema paid the price for her previous transgressions by moving to a little village, and she expresses this remorse and guilt in her letters.
If I'm not sure that you're my son, she advised me to take a DNA test. Her letter, full of clarity and confidence, forced me to reconsider the earlier instances. After analyzing my past, I realized my guilt.
Later, Jerry came to meet me and told me how she lied about you to threaten you."
"What? Jerry told you the truth?" My eyes widened in shock.
"Yes, she told me everything and asked forgiveness for her mistakes." He nodded his head.
"It's time to take medicine." Sara entered the room with my mom and Jerry. I stared at them all, bewildered. Sara has made me feel so close to my family, even though I always felt so alone with them. I have a lot of respect and affection for Sara. I looked at the mark around her neck.
"Where is Neil? What did he do with you?" When I picture the scenario after I lost consciousness, my body trembles.
