Is it the end?

Sara POV

"Sara, why are you quiet? Please let me know what he did to you." He cast a worried glance my way.

"Relax, Aaron; don't panic; he did nothing with me as you are imagining." To comfort him, I rubbed his palm.

"But he was..." He lost himself in deep thinking before finishing his sentence.

"If your dad does not come on time, then maybe what you are imagining will turn out to be a reality."

"Dad?" He confusedly turned to face his father.

"How did you get there?" He appeared extremely troubled by his bothersome questions.

After he passed out, I had to tell him the whole incident because he wouldn't stop worrying until he knew the complete truth.

"Neil attempted to rape me, but your dad arrived in time to save us all."

"But how did you get there?" He was so eager to find out the truth.

"I decided to ask for your forgiveness after learning the truth. But you had already left when I got to your house. I followed your car to get to you, but halfway there, it developed a puncture. You had already departed when I got to Emma's house, so I followed you to that villa.

I was unaware of the serious situation, but as I noticed the gunmen surrounding the house, my suspicions increased, and I called the police to report the location. Police encountered him on entering the house because he was an active member of drug supplies, and police were looking for him."

His dad exhaled deeply after narrating the whole story.

"But what happened to your stepsister and stepmother?" He turned his gaze toward me.

"Aron, you have to rest now; leave something for later to discuss." Jerry motioned to me not to respond to Aaron's query at this time.

"However, I need to know right away because until I have all the answers, I won't be able to relax." He glared at me, begging me to respond to his inquiries.

"They accepted their crime and are now in jail."

"Oh, it appears that the story has a happy ending." A big smile crossed his face.

"Yes, you can say that." I smiled, looking deep into his eyes.

"No, this is not the end of the story but the beginning. We want to see you both get married." Jerry placed her hand on Sara's shoulder and demanded that we remarry.

"As Jerry says, we want to play with our grandchildren because we missed out on that time in our lives, and we want to make up for it now by spending time with them." Hearing Ema Aunty's words made my face heat up. I covered my face with my palm.

Though I'm glad to see things are moving in the right direction, I still feel guilty for not telling them the whole tale. I kept the fact that I accidentally killed Uncle Joe from them. I have to keep this a secret because no one will believe me if I tell them it was an accident, and I didn't kill him on purpose.

We finally have the opportunity to live a quiet life after overcoming numerous obstacles in my life, and I don't want to ruin this opportunity by telling them the truth.

After a week, the hospital discharged Aron, and we chose the following Sunday as our wedding day. Aaron and his father are busy organizing the lavish wedding ceremony, and Ema and Jerry are occupied choosing the perfect wedding gown for me. They are all excited about our wedding.

Jerry forbade us from seeing each other before our marriage, dividing our shared house into two sections. Jerry, Ema, and I lived on one side, and Aaron and his father lived on the other. Happiness surrounded me, but still, a tinge of guilt always bothered me.

I am not doing myself any favors by keeping Aaron in the dark. Before I marry him, I have to be honest with him. I don't want to keep any more dark secrets between us that cause new misunderstandings in our relationship. This time, I want to build a solid relationship with him.

I got out of bed and texted Aaron to tell him to meet me on the patio.

The lightning and dark clouds frightened me. Why hasn't my fear of rain overcome me, even after I've already defeated that monster? Standing on my patio under the dark sky made me so afraid that I decided to go back inside. I'll meet him somewhere else this morning. I don't think it's a good idea to wait for him on the terrace.

I turned around to go back to my room. That's when my gaze fell on the oak tree. Thunder and lightning struck the oak tree, revealing a blood-stained face shining beneath it.

"Uncle Joe?" My body froze when I saw him standing under the tree.

Is he alive? Is he still alive? I killed him with my own hands.

When I see his ghost, I get shivers. My throat dried when I saw him approaching me.

"How long will you flee from me, Sara? One day, you must come to me." His evil laugh echoed in my ears.

In an attempt to ignore his ghost, I fled the terrace. As I was stepping down the terrace, I ran into Aron's chest.

"Why do you look so terrified, Sara? What happened?" He gave me a worried expression.

"Aron, I saw him." I hid my face in his chest and sobbed out loudly.

"Whom do you see?" Taking my hand, he led me back out onto the patio.

I was scared, but Aron assured me that I was safe with him and that no one could harm me when he was around me. He looked around the house from the terrace, but he didn't see anyone.

"Sara, there is no one around the house, so you don't have to fear. Now tell me why you called me here; did you miss me?" He put his arms around me and kissed my forehead.

After all, maybe he was correct—it was all in my head. He is already dead, so how could he have come here?

I leaned my head against his neck and took a few big breaths to calm myself before I told him the truth.
