Aron POV
"Where are you, Sara?" I raked my finger through my hair.
Why is God testing me so much? Every time he gives me optimism that I might find Sara this time, he dashes my hopes.
"When did she leave this place?" I spoke with my mother.
"She didn't even inform me that she was leaving this residence two days ago." Mom's voice expressed her anguish over Sara's departure quite plainly.
"Were you aware of her whereabouts?" As I stared at her, I gave her a hopeful expression.
"No, she gave me no information at all. She gave me no information about you. Could you at least tell me how you knew her?" She questioned me.
"She's my wife." I exhaled deeply to let out my dissatisfaction with the situation.
"What? How could she have kept from me such a major truth?" Mom appeared surprised to learn the truth.
"The reason she didn't tell you about this is because I divorced her a few months ago; she didn't tell you about it." I don't want my mom to be frustrated with Sara for hiding the truth about our marriage. Since I kept our marriage a secret from everyone, I am the one who is truly to blame for everything.
"I repeatedly questioned her about how she knew so much about you, Aaron, but she never disclosed to me that she had previously met you. How could she lie to me? She betrayed my trust; she took advantage of my confidence in her. I told her all my dark secrets and feelings, but she never disclosed anything to me about herself other than the fact that her uncle intended to kill her to seize her property." My mom sounded angry, recalling her experience with Sara.
"You just mentioned her uncle, correct?" I raised my brow at her.
"Yes, she told me that her uncle wanted to kill her." She nodded in agreement.
Oh, so that's why she was running everywhere before I reached there. She's running to protect herself from her Uncle Joe, not from me. I was correct about that man; he is her Uncle Joe. Perhaps this is the reason he fled when he noticed me at Sara's home. Now I understand the whole matter. Sara's life is in jeopardy, so I have to find her as soon as possible.
"Did Sara leave anything here in the house, Mom?" I asked her questions in the hopes of locating her by any hints left in her possessions.
"Although she only had one bag, which she had placed in her almirah, she didn't have any luggage." Mom presented her luggage to me.
Upon opening the bag, I discovered several documents and letters inside. Inside the sack, I discovered one letter and some old real estate paperwork. I opened the letter to read its contents. Indeed, her father has bequeathed his substantial estate to her. And now he wants her to look after his second family on his property. I am well aware of Sara's nature. Without a doubt, she will search for her stepfamily. To find her, I now need to locate her stepfamily.
"All right, Jerry, let's go." Jerry agreed to accompany me.
"Aron, where do you want to go at this late hour of the night?" My mom questioned me.
"Mom, I will meet you some other time. My instinct tells me that Sara is in danger, so I have to go look for her."
"Then I'll also accompany you." My mother also trailed after me.
Since it was already night, we found it difficult to descend the slope, but we eventually made it and arrived in Sara's hometown. Upon arrival, I visited Sara's residence once more and inquired about her stepfamily from her neighbor. They informed us that her stepfamily lives in a nearby town. We wasted no time driving to the town.
When we were on the way to the town, my detective informed me about Neil's suspicious activity. He told me about Neil's visit to a little town close to Sara's hometown. When I learned that Neil had also been here looking for Sara, my suspicions only became greater.
"Aron, I don't feel well about Neil; I'm not sure why, but I feel like something negative is about to happen." Jerry placed a hand on her chest.
"Relax, Jerry; there is nothing bad going to happen. After spending three months with Sara, I learned that she is a strong and brilliant lady. She didn't take any steps in haste. I prayed to God to keep her safe." My mother attempted to comfort Jerry.
After driving for two hours, we finally reached that town. My heart raced as I pressed the doorbell, fearing that she might flee before I arrived. After several minutes, a blonde woman unlocked the door. I was taken aback to see that same blonde woman. She is the same woman I saw in Neil's room that night.
After all, what is she doing here? That woman was also scared of seeing me.
"Where is Sara?" I questioned her. Rather than responding, she motioned for me to come inside.
When I entered the house, my body froze as I saw the scene before me. I'm in shock at what my eyes saw. How could she do this to me? In front of me, she and Neil are getting engaged. I never expected this from her. How was she going to tie the knot with that bastard?
"What are you doing, Sara?" Jerry yelled when she saw her.
Sara's hand paused in midair before she inserted the ring into his finger.
"How did you get there, Aron?" She gave us a shocked look.
"How could you get engaged to this man when you claimed that you loved me?" I gave her an enraged look.
"Aaron, please don't ruin this joyful occasion for us. Now that you are no longer her spouse, you have no claim to her." Neil gave me a fierce glare.
"Shut your fucking mouth; I am talking to Sara." I pushed him on the floor before he tried to attack me.
