Chapter 255: Training Bulbasaur and Gible
Sakura didn't say much, only insisting that she would walk back with him.
So, the two parted ways at the entrance of their dorms.
As soon as Hikaru entered his room, he immediately activated the system's Training Room.
Then, he released Bulbasaur and Gardevoir.
The Substitute-Protect-Toxic strategy required both Substitute and Protect—skills that Gardevoir already mastered.
So, the responsibility of teaching fell on her.
Hikaru had an idea—
Maybe training through strong Pokémon guiding weaker ones could trigger the "Teaching and Learning" trait in his system.
Inside the brightly lit Training Room, Charizard and Greninja were already locked in a fierce sparring match—Dragon Claw vs. Water Shuriken.
Clang! Clang!
The sound of metal scraping filled the air.
Whenever Dragon Claw and Water Shuriken collided, sparks erupted from the impact.
With each clash, Greninja's Water Shuriken managed to chip away small pieces of Charizard's energy-cloaked claws.
Even though Charizard quickly regenerated its energy coating,
The fact that Greninja's cutting power could even damage a fully condensed Dragon Claw was astonishing.
Ever since Greninja mastered its sword-like slash under the waterfall, it had immediately challenged Charizard to a duel.
And in their first sparring match, Greninja completely overwhelmed Charizard.
Frustrated, Charizard had sought out Greninja for training.
However, understanding and mastering techniques wasn't something that could be forced.
Charizard's Dragon Claw focused on overpowering strength—it was completely different from Greninja's razor-sharp precision.
Trying to copy Greninja's cutting technique was simply not feasible.
"Bulba?"
As soon as Bulbasaur was released, it was immediately captivated by the battle.
Its eyes gleamed with admiration.
The flashes of swords and claws, combined with Greninja's Fairy Wings enhancement, created a rapid aerial duel.
All Bulbasaur could see was a streak of black shadow and a flash of orange—constantly flickering through the air, leaving behind trails of fiery sparks.
Hikaru chuckled softly.
"Come here, Bulbasaur."
Charizard and Greninja's combat styles weren't suitable for Bulbasaur.
However, once Gible evolved into Garchomp, it would benefit from learning from them.
Bulbasaur, on the other hand, required a different approach.
"Bulba!" (Okay!)
Bulbasaur eagerly jumped toward Hikaru.
Even though it was twice the size of an average Bulbasaur, it still moved with agility.
"Garde?" (You want me to teach this little one skills?)
Gardevoir, using telepathy, immediately understood why Hikaru had summoned her.
"Yeah. Focus on Substitute and Protect. If it can learn Toxic, that would be great too."
Hikaru nodded.
Both Substitute and Protect were Gardevoir's signature skills, so she was the best instructor.
"Bulba!"
Bulbasaur's eyes lit up with excitement, staring eagerly at Gardevoir.
Gardevoir glanced at the enthusiastic little creature, then covered her mouth and chuckled.
She liked Bulbasaur.
As long as it wasn't that little shark.
That one was someone else's problem.
"Garde~" (No problem~)
"Good."
Seeing Gardevoir agree so readily, Hikaru began to think.
Previously, he had used the Trait Replication feature, combined with Trait Fusion—
That had given him an idea.
Blue-tier traits were rare in the system, except for the monthly free trait selection.
But green-tier traits appeared almost every other day.
So…
What if he wished for green-tier "Trait Replication", then merged two of them into a blue-tier "Trait Replication"?
And by repeating this…
He could eventually generate high-quality traits at will!
System exploit… unlocked!
While Hikaru was deep in thought,
Gardevoir leaned in close to his ear.
"Garde~" (Where's my reward~?)
"Huh?"
Hikaru was startled.
"Garde!" (A reward for teaching!)
Gardevoir whispered playfully, as if she didn't want Bulbasaur to overhear.
"Wait, since when do you need rewards for helping?"
Hikaru was dumbfounded.
But seeing Gardevoir's expectant gaze, he sighed.
"What do you want?"
Gardevoir immediately brightened up, wrapping her arms around Hikaru's neck.
"Garde~" (I want to go outside! You must have a way, right~?)
Her slightly playful tone sent shivers down Hikaru's spine.
"Stop calling me 'Trainer' like that. Speak normally."
He turned to push her away, seeing the hopeful look in her eyes.
"…Fine, I'll find a way."
"Garde?" (Really?)
Gardevoir's eyes widened in excitement, and when Hikaru nodded, she couldn't hide her joy.
She much preferred staying outside with Hikaru, instead of just watching Charizard and Greninja fight all day.
"If only you had Ghost-type properties or an invisibility ability, this wouldn't even be a problem."
Hikaru mused.
Being able to hide in shadows, like Ghost-types, would be really useful…
"Garde…"
Gardevoir sighed.
She also wanted that ability.
But the moment she said it, Hikaru's eyes widened.
Wait a minute—
Even if Gardevoir couldn't have that ability…
What if he wished for a Trait that granted it?
If both Latias and Gardevoir could stay hidden,
Then Hikaru's security concerns would be completely solved!
Damn it, I've been thinking too conventionally!
New objective unlocked!
Shaking off his thoughts, he turned back to the Training Room.
"Alright, you two get started."
Using Trait Coins, Hikaru expanded the Training Room.
Gardevoir and Bulbasaur began their training.
Meanwhile, Hikaru summoned Gible.
"Gabite?"
As soon as it appeared, Gible bit onto Hikaru's pants, grinning with its sharp teeth.
It was clearly overjoyed.
"Alright, alright, let go."
Hikaru patted Gible's head.
Only then did the little shark release his pants, though it continued grinning like an excited puppy.
Gible would require a different training method.
Pokémon: Gible
Ability: Rough Skin
Gender: Male
Talent: Champion-tier
Level: 16
Moves: Tackle, Dragon Breath, Metal Claw, Mud Shot, Dig, Slash, Dragon Tail.
Introduction: "Since birth, Gible has been nurtured by Verdant Power, granting it enhanced stamina."
Since hatching, Gible had naturally learned five moves.
And after leveling up, it had even learned new abilities.
For now—
Metal Claw, Dragon Tail, and Slash could be set aside.
Gible's claws and tail were still too short—mastering them would take a long time.
Instead, he could focus first on Dragon Breath, Dig, and Mud Shot.
This little guy hadn't even undergone structured training yet!
