Later that evening, Ray was allowed to come to dinner. As soon as Kasonna and Severin entered Ray bounced up in her seat on her knees.
"Look, My Lord!" She said with glee. Parthenia smiled and carefully put her hands around her and whispered for her to sit, she did but still held her smile for him.
"Hn, Ray." He told her giving her acknowledgment.
Kasonna was not impressed but did not dare question her Alpha. As they ate, Severin decided that Parthenia and the human girl could be mother and daughter or, hell, sisters for that matter. He didn't know why he noticed. Ray was allowed to stay, and Parthenia took her with her. She was happy to have someone that needed her.
Things were getting better, even if they were not what Parthenia dreamed about. But she was growing up and knew that dreams were wishes that the heart made. However, it take more than one for her dreams to come true. She had little hope. But then Ray wanted something to drink, and Parthenia left her room to get it. She hated waking servants for anything. That's when she ran into a sight that drained her of her color.
Kasonna was pushed up against a wall. Her dress was pulled up, her breast bare and Severin had his fingers in her.
"Like what you see?" Kasonna stated with a smile, taunting Parthenia. Parthenia tore her eyes away and quickly returned to her room.
Severin withdrew his fingers and tossed the demoness to the ground. "Your games are a turn-off." He left her.
But what was done was done, Parthenia's hope was gone.
Parthenia knew that she would not get a fairytale ending, but at least her sister would, and Oni deserved it. Meldon did too, and she knew they would run away from this place. She hoped that one day she could too. Severin would never leave Kasonna for her. She was sure the element witch would be pregnant as soon as this baby was born and he gained his power. The one bad thing about this was once a Maiden had a half-demonic baby, no man would want her. Human or otherwise. She would be seen as tainted. This son would be an only child. She had always had a hard time accepting that this was what she was born for.
Not even rapists would touch her, not like she would allow them to.
The land was quiet again, the festival was over, but then the wind carried in a message from the North. The Northern Lord wanted to meet.
Severin was not pleased by his father's acceptance of it.
"We should take Parthenia and Oni away from here," Meldon stated pacing.
"I agree," Lord Yasa stated.
"You wish to send them away from our protection?" Severin asked.
"You ain't protecting nothing but your power jackass."
"Indeed," Severin stated. "You forget their place in all this."
Meldon bared fang, and Severin bared his back.
"Enough." This was a tough call for Lord Yasa to make. "Call for Parthenia ."
A servant did, and she came and bowed. "You called for me, My Lord?"
Severin's eyes went to her ever-growing belly.
"The Lord of the North is coming to seek an audience with us." Lord Yasa stated.
She raised an eyebrow. "Okay..." She said slowly.
"We are at odds as to what to do with you and Oni," Maldon stated now standing still.
"I think you two should leave. I'll go with you of course, and it's only for a few days." Meldon added, knowing full and well she would agree.
"We are a danger to you." She said thoughtfully.
"More of if he finds out about you," Meldon added.
She bit her lip. "I see." In one case, they were better protected here. However, for her at least, it didn't matter. He could use her against them after her pregnancy. While Severin didn't care, the rest did.
"We should send for Kegan." She said.
"The Eastern Prince?" Severin spoke, her eyes glided to him.
"Yes." She confirmed. Kegan was a Red fox demon.
"Why?" He asked.
"The fox tribe will offer us great protection." She said looking at Severin.
"The fox hates my person." In fact, the Fox hated all of them. Foxes and Gray Wolves did not get along.
"It is not for you that he will protect me, My Lord." Parthenia was friends with the Foxes, she, after all, had saved many of their young once during the great fires of the East. Meldon laughed. Severin cut his eyes to his brother. "Something funny half breed?" He snapped.
"She just told you." He laughed. "But she is right, Kegan would protect her based solely on the fact that he wants her for himself."
Kegan had declared he would make Parthenia his one day after her rescue of his tribe. She knew it would never be so, as did everyone else but it didn't stop him from saying it nonetheless.
"She carries my child," Severin stated.
"She carries your power and nothing more you jerk." Meldon scoffed pointing his finger at his brother. Soon enough both were brothers growling at each other making the rest of the grownups in the room sigh.
"Enough Meldon." Parthenia snapped she then looked at Lord Yasa. "Send for Kegan."
"Without my power, you will weaken." Severin stopped growling and glared at her.
"I went for months without you; I think I'll live for a week." She stated bravely. He didn't like her tone, he growled again, with a warning, and moved closer to her, imposing his height on her. She did not cower, she merely crossed her arms daring him.
"Enough, send word to the Fox." His father cut in, no good could come of a fight between them to at this moment.
Severins demonic power ran through the castle with anger but did as he was told. The next day they all traveled to meet the Fox halfway.
