The officer nodded; the tactical team immediately split into four two-man teams, each raising their guns and covering the four room doors on both sides. More of the assault team guarded each staircase.

Blocking any possible escape routes for the traffickers.

But strangely, despite many people entering, there was no sound from within the room.

Neither from the traffickers nor the abducted children.

Instead, a faint smell of blood seeped through.

This eerie silence unsettled everyone, but they still initiated the operation.

Whatever the situation inside, protecting the abducted children was the top priority.

So, without any hesitation or using phrases like "checking the water meter" or "bringing warmth,"

Heavy Knight picked up a hammer and smashed it straight down on the anti-theft door of apartment 1303. Some kind of ability was activated, and the door twisted and deformed before it toppled backward, heavily crashing onto the floor.

A second later, Li Yelai and Heavy Knight rushed into the room.

They were both Spiritual Ability Users and had Spiritual Barriers, making them safer than the assault team members. If the traffickers had firearms, they could also protect their teammates in the back.

However, once Li Yelai burst into the room, he didn't find any resistance.

The fierce-looking traffickers and the frightened, trembling children he had imagined were all absent.

The whole floor had been opened up, making the room especially spacious. In the center of the room was a huge, long table.

On it, a vast amount of food was piled up like a small mountain, filling the room with various fragrances and the scent of blood.

And on each side of the long table sat six men and women wearing various animal masks and suits. They leaned back in their chairs, showing no reaction to the arrival of Li Yelai and the others.

The eerie scene had the assault team on high alert, and Cheese, with a chilling gleam in his eyes, commanded, "Disarm your weapons!"

As a user of the Path of Babbling, Cheese had already activated his ability.

However, there was no response from those people.

Heavy Knight and Li Yelai exchanged a glance before cautiously approaching. Then, they lifted one of the Tauren masks.

What they saw was the lifeless face of a middle-aged man.

His complexion was pale, and dark red blood was leaking from his eyes and nose. His rigid face was filled with confusion and horror.

Dead?

Did the Tauren have to die?

This made everyone more cautious. Detective spoke, "He was one of that woman's accomplices."

"Can you see how he died?" Li Yelai asked, suppressing the nausea he felt.

"I can only see him sitting down at the table. It must have been last night," replied Detective, his face looking somber. "They all just sat down at the table and suddenly died."

Then, the assault team members proceeded to remove the masks one by one.

They all turned out to be the woman's accomplices that the Detective had seen previously.

Strangely, even after searching through five rooms, they couldn't find the woman nor the seven kidnapped children.

Where had they gone? The Detective's ability clearly didn't see them leave.

They should have been right in this room.

Could there be some undiscovered secret passage?

Or perhaps, was there somewhere in this room where someone could hide...

Thinking this, Li Yelai suddenly remembered the fish the woman had been staring at yesterday... the fish with the blood!

Could it be...

As he thought of a certain possibility, Li Yelai's expression hardened.

Then, he turned back almost prayerfully, looking toward the small, still aromatic and bloody mountain of food.

Cheese seemed to sense something too; he stiffened as he approached the table, his expression turning very ugly.

The others also realized this and their expressions grew more horrified as they looked toward the table.

After hesitating for a few seconds, Li Yelai pushed away the food mountain.

As a large amount of food fell from the table, a delicate arm bone emerged from the pile.

In an instant, intense anger and fear surged through everyone.

As more food dropped and more skeletons emerged,

They had been dismembered, they had been devoured, they had been brutally killed!

Suddenly, the mountain of food at the very center of the table collapsed by itself, revealing a naked woman inside.

She was passionately kissing a skull, seemingly bewildered. Then, she turned her head to look at the nearest Li Yelai.

A smile appeared on her face.

"I've been discovered," she said with a coy giggle.

In response, roaring gunshots!

And... Li Yelai's furious axe cleave!
