D23. Ancient Book Hall

The antique doors of the countryside villa were pushed open, and out stepped a stern elder who did not engage in idle chatter.

His serious expression, spotless lenses, and unwavering gaze when looking at others.

Even though it was night, the elder's outfit was not the least disheveled, dressed impeccably, like a thick, well-preserved tome.

Within mere seconds of knocking, he stepped out of his home, clearly without having spent time primping beforehand.

Under his stern watch, both Hero and Little Girl couldn't help but straighten their backs.

However, the moment he recognized Hero's face, his nearly solemn countenance softened.

"...Is that my granddaughter? You've grown up quite a bit."

Compared to the typical gentle old man, Grandfather's expression couldn't exactly be called warm,

but the contrast made the change stand out all the more.

Just seeing Grandfather's face, Hero felt inexplicably reassured, and her childhood memories resurfaced in her mind.
