A young man rode out from behind the trees on a majestic white steed. Clad in armor, he held a bow in his hands, with a sword strapped to his waist.
The moment two barbarians spotted him, they ignored the rescue team entirely and charged straight at Su Chen.
"So aggressive? Well, I won't back down either!"
Without hesitation, Su Chen raised his bow and fired an arrow.
The arrow pierced through a barbarian's skull.
"Ah!"
With a miserable cry, the barbarian collapsed to the ground and instantly vanished.
"So, in this world, when someone dies, they disappear immediately..."
Su Chen smirked. "Finally, this portable bow came in handy."
Seizing the momentum, he spurred his horse forward. At a speed of 100 meters per second, he charged straight toward the barbarian stronghold—so fast that it rivaled an aircraft.
The barbarians showed no fear.
With deafening roars, they all raised their bone clubs, ready to fight.
Meanwhile, the rescue team members whispered among themselves.
"Who is this guy? Did someone secretly change into armor just now?"
"Hah, and he even has a white horse!"
"Where the hell did he get that gear and that horse?"
"We should run while we can. That so-called paradise isn't worth dying for."
"Oh my god! Could he be our savior?"
"Maybe he's here to kill us instead?"
"This warrior... I owe you my life. I'll find a way to repay you one day!"
Everyone had their own theories, but there was no consensus.
Su Chen wielded his sword, cutting down the barbarians.
Though his weapons were powerful, the enemy had sheer numbers on their side. Before long, they managed to surround him.
At that moment, a female barbarian swung her club and struck Su Chen on the head.
A wave of dizziness hit him instantly.
"No... I have to hold on!"
Just as the female barbarian was about to land a second blow, Su Chen's horse reacted swiftly, delivering a powerful kick.
The female barbarian was sent flying three meters away, coughing up blood upon impact.
Thanks to his armor, Su Chen managed to recover after a few seconds.
He quickly swung his blade, cutting down the last remaining scrawny barbarian.
At that moment, the enemy's old witch began chanting an incantation.
The rescue team watched in shock at Su Chen's fearless display.
"Damn, this guy is incredible! Like a legendary general from ancient times!"
"Brother, I misjudged you. I thought you were here to steal our supplies!"
"Who is this warrior? I'd marry him in a heartbeat!"
"Oh no, that old witch is chanting a spell! Watch out!"
"Guys, stop just watching! Help him out!"
"Damn, what is she even saying? It's making my head hurt!"
"Someone, please shut that old hag up! My brain feels like it's going to explode!"
Su Chen hated listening to spell chants. Covering his ears, he found that the noise was starting to disrupt his ability to fight.
But the rescue team didn't just stand idly by. They immediately charged toward the old witch.
"Brothers, let's take that old hag down together!"
"Yeah, let's kill her!"
"All she ever does is chant curses and harm people. Die already!"
A few strong young men stepped forward, gripping their daggers.
Seeing this, the old witch sneered and used her dark magic.
She summoned the corpses of fallen barbarians, turning them into undead minions.
"Rotted flesh and blackened teeth, offer up human sacrifices! Let their bones be ground to dust!"
With a sinister crackling sound, several skeletons rose from the ground.
The strong young men turned pale with fear and collapsed onto the ground, begging for mercy.
"Please, great one! We were wrong! Spare us!"
"Ahhh! I'll never do it again!"
"Mom, I don't wanna die! Somebody help me!"
The old witch showed no sympathy.
"Foolish mortals! You dare challenge me?"
"I'll make you my puppets in this world forever!"
The skeletons marched toward the young men.
It was then that Su Chen realized the barbarians were nothing more than the old witch's tools—she was the real mastermind behind everything.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Su Chen raised his bow.
"Swoosh!"
The iron arrow flew straight into the old witch's chest, piercing her internal organs.
"Argh! I won't forgive you!"
She collapsed and vanished into thin air.
The skeletons also disappeared along with her.
Su Chen let out a relieved sigh.
"Finally, that annoying problem is dealt with."
The strong young men were still sitting on the ground, their legs trembling.
One particularly muscular man—boasting an eight-pack—was so terrified that he wet himself.
Su Chen dismounted and helped them up.
"It's safe now," he reassured them.
Noticing the wet stain on the muscular man's pants, Su Chen couldn't hold back his laughter.
"Hahaha!"
The strong man turned red with embarrassment.
"Come on, don't say anything! This is so humiliating!"
The others also started laughing.
"Hey! You guys have no right to laugh at me! You weren't doing any better just now!"
The rest of the rescue team rushed over.
"Are you guys okay?"
"Is anyone injured?"
They all checked on each other with concern.
The strong young men, too embarrassed to admit what just happened.
"Don't worry! That old witch has already been dealt with, all thanks to this armored warrior. Without him, we wouldn't have been able to handle things so quickly."
Everyone turned to look at Su Chen.
Luckily, he was fully armored; otherwise, his identity might have been exposed. Su Chen had no intention of letting them find out who he was.
"The barbarians have been taken care of. Someone should go rescue the girl locked in that small dark room."
"Oh, that's right! Let's get her out immediately!"
Several kind-hearted people rushed inside to help Wu Luxi.
Suddenly, Xi Bowen regained consciousness.
"Wait… why am I lying on the ground?"
He suddenly felt something warm trickling down his forehead.
Reaching up to touch it, his fingers came away wet.
"Oh no! So much blood! Are my teammates okay?"
Xi Bowen immediately got up and started searching for them.
He soon found the entire rescue team gathered in a circle. Stepping closer, he saw a fully armored knight standing at the center.
Before long, the kind-hearted rescuers carried Wu Luxi out of the dark room.
She looked nothing like the graduate student she once was, as if she had aged ten years in an instant. Yet, even in her exhausted state, she still stood out in the crowd.
Her skin was as fair as snow, her nose elegantly straight with a slightly upturned tip, and her delicate nostrils quivered faintly. Her lips, perfectly curved, had lost some of their color, appearing slightly pale.
But once she was freed, a radiant smile finally spread across her face.
The rescuers turned to Su Chen and pointed at him.
"Miss, you should thank this warrior. Without him, you wouldn't have been rescued so quickly."
"That's right, go on and express your gratitude!"
Wu Luxi gazed at Su Chen. Though his face was hidden behind the armor, she could still sense his strong and heroic presence.
"Sir… thank you for saving my life."
Her voice trembled slightly, laced with nervousness and shyness.
Su Chen responded calmly.
"It was nothing. Just a small effort."
