The Eternal City's Heartbeat

The golden light of the gateway vanished, leaving Daniel and Mira standing at the entrance of a city that defied imagination. The landscape before them was colossal, surreal, and shrouded in an eternal twilight. The sky pulsed with hues of deep purple and silver, interspersed with faintly glowing stars that seemed more like memories of light than celestial bodies.

"Do you feel it?" Mira asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Daniel nodded, his eyes scanning the cityscape ahead. "It's like the whole place is... alive. Watching us."

The city was a masterpiece of ancient design, but time had left its scars. Towering spires leaned at unnatural angles, their surfaces overrun by luminous vines that pulsed faintly, as if carrying the lifeblood of the place. Streets of cracked obsidian stretched into a labyrinthine expanse, and ornate statues stood at intersections, their faces eroded into expressions both haunting and unknowable.
