Hunch

Adah folded the letter carefully, her heart heavy with worry. The words seemed to echo in her mind: "Adah, there is trouble at home. Come back now." She couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding, and as she packed her belongings, the boys, Victory and Destiny, approached the hostel master to request permission to leave.

Victory spoke first, his voice steady but rehearsed. “Our mom is very sick, so we plan to see her at the hospital.”

The elderly hostel master leaned back in his chair, his sharp eyes assessing the boys. “Is that so, son?” His tone was skeptical, and his raised brow told Victory his story wasn’t convincing.

Destiny, noticing the tension, sighed and stepped forward. “There’s no harm in telling the truth, sir. We’re going home because we feel something is wrong. It’s just... a gut feeling.”
