Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
A relentless chain of explosions thundered through the battlefield, engulfing Obito in an inferno of fiery light.
Fighting Obito wasn't as simple as unleashing constant attacks—it had to be sustained at a level capable of killing him instantly. Otherwise, he could exchange injury for time, resetting the duration of Kamui. That was why, in the original events, Konan had to set up six billion explosive tags to deal with him.
Despite his injuries—his stomach still wounded from Nagato's Wood Release spear—Obito pressed forward in his Kamui state. Thanks to White Zetsu's regenerative enhancements, he could stave off collapse for now.
"I won't give you the chance to get close to me." Deidara smirked, effortlessly rising into the air on his clay bird.
Damn that brat! Obito gritted his teeth and pivoted toward the closest target—Itachi. If he could just get near anyone, Deidara's attacks would be compromised, giving him a chance to escape.
But Itachi, ever vigilant even amid his battle with Zetsu, instantly grasped Obito's intentions.
"Caw! Caw!"
In a burst of feathers, Itachi's form dissolved into a flock of crows, soaring into the sky. Though this was an illusion, the sheer mastery of Itachi's genjutsu made it nearly impossible for anyone present to locate his true body. If not for the protection granted by his Mangekyō Sharingan, Obito could've fallen to genjutsu alone.
Damn it! Even that brat... Frustration boiled over as Obito shifted his focus yet again, now targeting Nagato and Konan. Konan, with her paper wings spread wide, effortlessly carried Nagato into the air.
Damn it all! Obito glared upward at the figures encircling him, a cold fury blazing in his Sharingan.
No! I can't give up! If I can't overcome this obstacle, how can I create a world with Rin?
...No, that's not right. How can I create a peaceful world?
Without hesitation, Obito sank into the ground, utilizing his intangibility to phase through obstacles. His speed underground surpassed even the most skilled Earth Release users.
Let's see those brats follow me now.
Screeeech!
The sound of something slithering through rock caught Obito's attention. His Sharingan sharpened, locking onto countless clay insects and centipedes burrowing toward him.
Suddenly, the creatures froze in place.
No… Obito's expression darkened. He recognized this pattern. It was the prelude to an explosion.
BOOM!
As expected, the clay creatures detonated in a chain reaction, ripping through the ground and forcing Obito back into view. The sheer force left him exposed, once again surrounded by his enemies.
"Why don't you hand over the Rinnegan and your Sharingan?" Deidara's voice rang out mockingly. "Do that, and I might let you live."
Deidara's offer, though genuine on the surface, sounded entirely different to Obito.
"You think I'm out of options?" Obito sneered, his voice icy. "Let me show you my power."
"Zetsu! Cover me!" he barked.
"Understood," came Black Zetsu's rasping reply. While unsure of Obito's exact plan, Zetsu couldn't afford to let him fall. Obito was a critical piece in the grand scheme—a pawn that couldn't be sacrificed.
"Wood Release: Nativity of a Sea of Trees!"
A massive forest erupted from the ground, trees surging skyward and enveloping the battlefield. This was none other than the legendary technique of the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Within the forest, the caster was an impenetrable force, absorbing chakra while dominating the terrain.
The cost, however, was steep. White Zetsu withered rapidly beside Black Zetsu, deflating like a punctured balloon until only a shriveled husk remained.
"Hurry!" Black Zetsu urged. "I can only hold them off for thirty seconds!"
"Thirty seconds? We won't even give you one!" Deidara's voice echoed from above.
A blazing longsword cleaved through the forest, revealing Itachi's crimson-armored Susanoo. The massive figure loomed above, its sword ablaze. A coiled clay serpent snaked down the flaming blade, slithering toward Obito with terrifying speed.
Damn it! Just a little more time, and Kamui will reset!
As the serpent neared, Zetsu glanced at Obito, only to freeze in shock. Obito wasn't preparing to evade. He simply stood there, motionless, as though resigned to his fate.
What the hell is he doing?!
The clay serpent detonated, engulfing Obito in a blinding explosion.
He didn't use Kamui?!
Wait... that's...
In the aftermath, Obito reappeared, unscathed, at a different location. He calmly removed his mask, revealing his bloodied face. With practiced efficiency, he retrieved the Rinnegan stolen from Nagato and swapped it with his own damaged eye. Thanks to White Zetsu's modifications, the neural connections established seamlessly, bypassing the need for surgery.
An overwhelming surge of power coursed through him. A smirk tugged at Obito's lips beneath his mask. His caution had paid off.
I've overcome fate's trial. I will surpass everything.
Obito's calculated plan had begun long before. When he reclaimed Nagato's Rinnegan and faced Itachi's Amaterasu, he had two choices: evade or push forward. If he chose to rely on Izanagi, he risked losing one of his critical trump cards. Surrounded by enemies, losing that ace could've spelled disaster. So, he opted for caution.
Ten seconds earlier, underground, he'd used Izanagi to record a coordinate. Allowing himself to "die," he reappeared at the recorded point. This seamless "teleportation" granted him the window he needed. Even as Deidara and Itachi renewed their assault, it would take precious seconds for their attacks to reach him.
And in those seconds, he had claimed the Rinnegan.
Now, with the power of the Rinnegan unlocked, Obito felt invincible. As a true Uchiha, only he could wield its might to its fullest potential.
He had won.
