"That bizarre face... You're definitely not Uchiha Madara," Deidara scoffed.
"And if I am? Or if I'm not?" Obito replied, his voice calm yet brimming with confidence.
"It doesn't matter now. The power I wield far surpasses your imagination. My identity is irrelevant," Obito declared, his tone dripping with self-assurance.
"Be careful!" Nagato warned, his voice tense with shock. "He swapped out his eye for the Rinnegan in an instant!"
Nagato alone truly understood how difficult it was to control the Rinnegan. In his experience, wielding its immense power came at a cost—a body reduced to a shell of its former self. Yet here stood this enigmatic man, handling the Rinnegan as though it were child's play.
Nagato hesitated, torn between helping and his own limitations. With one Rinnegan lost, his strength as the Deva Path was diminished, and he was currently locked in a grueling battle against the Raikage of Kumogakure and Killer B, the jinchūriki of the Eight-Tails.
Both opponents were top-tier. Killer B, a master of the Eight-Tails' power, fought with unrelenting ferocity, while the Raikage's lightning-fast speed and sheer force made them an overwhelming duo. Their synchronized teamwork only amplified their threat, creating a synergy that was greater than the sum of its parts. Victory would not come easily.
C2 Dragon Enhanced!
On the battlefield, Deidara summoned his trusty old companion—a colossal clay dragon. However, as enemies grew stronger with time, his once-dominant trump card no longer held the same edge. It needed support from other clay-based techniques.
Deidara extended both arms, palms facing upward. Swarms of clay insects erupted from his hands, filling the sky like a plague of locusts in mere moments.
"Now, Nagato, let me show you the true power of the Rinnegan," Obito said, raising a single hand.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
Obito gestured toward Deidara in the air. An intense gravitational pull yanked Deidara from the dragon's back, hurtling him toward Obito.
"Damn it! I forgot about that!" Deidara cursed inwardly.
In the original Akatsuki plans, neither Obito nor Madara had displayed mastery of techniques like Shinra Tensei or Banshō Ten'in, even though they possessed the same eyes. Deidara had underestimated him—a critical oversight.
Thinking quickly, Deidara fired a long clay snake from his right hand. The snake coiled forward, riding the pull of Banshō Ten'in to reach Obito first.
"Kamui!"
Obito severed the gravitational pull, phasing into his Kamui dimension to avoid the explosion. Unscathed, he reappeared in an instant, closing in on the airborne Deidara.
Swish!
Thorn-covered vines erupted from the ground, snaking toward Deidara. Black Zetsu had joined the fray. However, Itachi was watching closely. His Susanoo's flaming sword swept across the battlefield, slicing through the vines and nudging Deidara out of harm's way.
"Thanks, Itachi!" Deidara shouted, biting down on another piece of clay and summoning a bird to catch him mid-fall. He quickly took cover behind the dragon.
"Secret Art: Dragon's Nest!"
A swarm of smaller clay dragons filled the sky, accompanied by an army of clay insects, all surging toward Obito and Black Zetsu below. Deidara bit down on more clay, his expression fierce.
"I'll need something bigger for this."
Boom!
The dragon swarm and clay insects detonated as they neared the ground. Obito countered with Shinra Tensei, creating a repulsive force that protected him and Black Zetsu from the explosions. The shockwaves and searing heat radiated outward.
High above, Konan grabbed Nagato and took flight, avoiding the blast radius. Itachi's real body remained hidden, his illusionary crow clones unphased by the chaos.
The only casualty was Kisame, fresh from defeating the Four-Tails.
"Hot! Hot! Hot!" Kisame yelped, his back scorched by the explosion.
"Oi, Deidara! Stop blowing up your allies, will you?!" he complained, patting out the flames. "You trying to take after Kakuzu or something?"
"Sorry about that, Kisame," Deidara replied, only half-apologetic.
Beneath the battlefield, Black Zetsu began retreating. The White Zetsu he had drained earlier left him without the strength to use Wood Release. Staying would only burden Obito.
"Obito, I'm pulling back. Don't get yourself killed," Black Zetsu muttered, his voice low.
"Don't worry," Obito replied, his focus unbroken.
He extended his hand again. This time, his target was Roshi, the jinchūriki of the Four-Tails, who was being restrained by Kisame's Samehada.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
Roshi was wrenched from Samehada's back, hurtling toward Obito.
"Susano'o!"
Itachi's Susanoo intercepted, its left hand grabbing Roshi mid-air while the right thrust its Totsuka Blade at Obito. The ethereal sword passed harmlessly through Obito as he phased into Kamui again.
"Cough... Cough..." A strained cough came from Itachi. His body was nearing its limit.
"Itachi, release Susanoo. Let the leader and Konan handle the rest," Deidara suggested.
"Yeah, Itachi-san," Kisame added with a grin. "You've got a little brother to take care of, don't you?"
Reluctantly, Itachi released Susanoo, his body too frail to argue. He needed to preserve his Mangekyō Sharingan's strength for Sasuke—it was the one promise he couldn't break.
Meanwhile, Obito charged toward Kisame, his target still Roshi. He planned to extract the Four-Tails and unleash its full power, adding another weapon to his arsenal.
"I respect you, Madara—or whoever you are. But now that we're enemies, I won't hold back," Kisame declared.
"Water Release: Great Shark Bullet Technique!"
A massive sphere of water engulfed the battlefield as Kisame fused with Samehada, transforming into his monstrous aquatic form. Within the water, Kisame gained the upper hand, his strength amplified.
"Water Style: Thousand Feeding Sharks!"
Countless sharks swarmed Obito, biting relentlessly. Although they phased through his intangibility, the constant attacks forced him to rely on Shinra Tensei to fend them off.
"Futile," Obito muttered, raising both arms.
"Shinra Tensei!"
The powerful repulsion force created a vacuum, scattering the water, sharks, and clay creatures. In the chaos, Obito extended his hand again, pulling Roshi toward him.
"Your chakra... I've been waiting for this," Kisame said, grinning like a shark.
