Chapter 45: The Evil God

In the end, Deidara and Jiraiya split up—Jiraiya headed back to the village for reinforcements, while Deidara rushed to the Land of Hot Water to confront the Evil God.

The Sage of Six Paths had explicitly instructed to continue guarding the barrier, ensuring that no more ancient gods could break through.

Thus, the task of dealing with the Grim Reaper and the Evil God fell solely on Deidara and his allies.

Given how formidable their opponents were, Deidara was determined not to take any chances this time. As he made his way toward the Land of Hot Water, he chewed on his clay, preparing his art in advance.

By the time he arrived, he had already molded and unleashed a perfect, enhanced version of his "Deathwing."

A thunderous roar echoed through the sky.

The dragon's cry and the sharp sound of air being torn apart instantly caught the attention of the people below. They looked up in shock as a colossal beast burst forth from the clouds. Its sheer size was so overwhelming that it seemed to fill the entire sky, making it impossible to grasp its full form from a distance.

"Deidara is here!" Hidan, who was in a wretched state, gasped. His entire body was stitched together with Kakuzu's black tendrils, making it impossible to tell how many times he had been torn apart.

Earlier, they had managed to seal away all the Evil God's followers. However, now that they were facing the true Evil God, they were utterly powerless.

The gap in strength was simply too vast.

"Heh heh heh... So, you're the anomaly of fate?"

"I must thank you for my release. As a token of my gratitude, allow me to grant you a painful death!"

The Evil God did not resemble a beast. Instead, he appeared entirely humanoid—his body was pitch black, with stark white markings outlining his skeletal structure.

Aside from his facial features, his appearance was eerily identical to Hidan when he activated the Death Controlling Possessed Blood technique.

It made sense—Hidan's power came from him, after all. One could argue that Hidan was the one who looked identical to the Evil God.

He wielded a crimson scythe, long and menacing, pointing it at Deidara in the sky with an air of utter arrogance.

"Step aside, all of you, unless you want to get caught in the explosion." Deidara glanced down at the battlefield below. The Evil God had only been rampaging for a short while, yet the casualties were already staggering.

Onoki soared up to join Deidara, standing at his side. "This old man will stay and assist you."

"My Dust Release should still be able to deal considerable damage to him."

Deidara nodded, not rejecting the offer. What he truly valued wasn't Onoki's Dust Release—it was his unparalleled mastery of the Weighted Boulder and Lightened Boulder Techniques.

"Be careful, old man. Try not to die."

"Otherwise, Kurotsuchi will never let me hear the end of it."

Onoki shot him a glare. "Same to you. I don't want to see my precious granddaughter heartbroken."

"Hmph!" The two exchanged a smirk before launching their attack on the Evil God below.

"This thing of yours is an insult to me!"

The Evil God swung his scythe, slicing an Asura Path puppet clean in half. But instead of reveling in his destruction, he clutched his weapon and screamed in rage, as if he had suffered some kind of deep humiliation.

That humiliation quickly turned to fury. He stomped down on the fallen puppet and leaped high into the air. His scythe extended, spinning in an arc like a blood-red crescent moon, aiming to cleave the colossal dragon in half.

But this was the enhanced C4 version of Deidara's "Deathwing." Its defenses were far superior to that of the Asura Path puppet. When the scythe struck, it left only a shallow wound. Even worse, the clay dragon's body ensnared the scythe, momentarily trapping the Evil God.

"Clay Thousand Snake Hand!"

Seizing the opportunity, Deidara extended his right hand, unleashing countless white clay serpents that arced through the air and coiled tightly around the Evil God.

Boom!

A fiery explosion erupted, flames licking the sky. But as the smoke cleared, the Evil God emerged unscathed, hurtling toward them. He stepped on his own scythe, using it as a platform to close the distance between himself and the dragon's back.

Deidara had anticipated this. He was prepared.

"Weighted Boulder Technique!"

With its gravity increased, the dragon's claw slashed downward with immense force. Though composed of clay, its razor-sharp talons gleamed under the sunlight like polished metal.

"Is that all? What's the point if you can't even hit me?" The Evil God sneered.

Large creatures had their advantages, but so did smaller ones.

The previous Eight-Headed Serpent wouldn't have been able to evade such an attack.

"Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet!"

"Lightened Boulder Technique!"

Onoki spewed forth an earthen dragon from his mouth, then lightly tapped it, enhancing its agility.

Now imbued with the Lightened Boulder Technique, the dragon slithered nimbly through the air, adapting to its newfound mobility before shooting toward the Evil God's chest like an arrow loosed from a bowstring.

"You really think that will work?" The Evil God was sent flying, yet he only laughed maniacally.

"Then how about this?"

The dragon's head twisted, and from its belly, an inferno of scorching flames erupted.

"Ahh! So hot!" The Evil God shrieked in pain. However, his black-and-white form seemed to possess incredible resistance, either due to sheer durability or a high tolerance against various jutsu.

Even the searing dragon fire had no visible effect on him.

Wait!

A strange sensation made Deidara's heart jolt.

He looked down in shock—his own "Deathwing" was melting!

Just like it was being burned by the very flames it had unleashed.

High-temperature fire?

Could the Evil God even curse non-living things?

Deidara was stunned. He immediately stopped the dragon's fire breath. As expected, once the flames ceased, the melting also stopped.

"Heh heh, figured it out, have you?" The Evil God withdrew his scythe and landed back on solid ground.

He gazed up at Deidara. "Anything I attack—whether it's alive or not—will suffer from my synchronized curse."

"Go on! Try it again! Burn me to cinders!"

As the Evil God cackled in madness, Deidara felt a headache coming on.

He wasn't sure if Kakuzu and Hidan had managed to retreat to a safe distance yet.

Sometimes, having explosions that were too powerful could also be a problem.
