38_Old Friends

"They went for Kathina." Wander announced.

Maevie sighed. It had been two days since the audition ended. She was told that they would contact her later when she left. And now Wander got the news that the role was given to someone else.

She knew that the chance of her not getting selected was very high. But still... I felt bad to not be selected.

Well. She can't blame them. After all Kathina had more experience as an actress and better reputation.

"So, I'm jobless now?" She asked her agent.

"There's nothing scheduled for now. But it'll not remained this way for long."

"Hmm... So, it's a short vacation for me." Maevie muttered to herself as she stood up to leave.

As she was about to open the door, she turned back and reminded Wander.

"Don't forget to come to Aunt's birthday party. She had reminded me at least three time to bring you. She'll feel bad if you don't show up."

Wander smiled helplessly at that.

'Who would ever miss out a chance to be part of the higher class of the society?'

"Don't worry. I won't."

Maevie nodded.

"Then I'm leaving."

It was almost sunset. And she needed to go help prepare to tomorrow's party. But as she was about to enter the van, the ringing of her phone paused her steps.

She pulled out her phone and sneered when she saw who was calling her.

[Fellina]

It was one of her 'loving' friends she used to hang out with who had gone MIA after they ran away from the drug party, they took her to. She had not contacted her for more than two months. She thought that they were ashamed of what they had done and hid away from her.

But apparently, she was wrong on this one.

She picked up the call, wanting to know what the person even wanted from her. Was she calling her after so long to apologize about what they had done? For calling her a friend when they needed some one to pay for them and leave them and ignore her when she had fallen into a trouble.

Or. She just thought that she would just forget that they had betrayed her and just accept them with open heart.

"Hello..."

-[May.... How have you been?]

"Good."

The person on the other end of the call must've noticed the cold tone in her voice as she went silent for a few seconds.

- [Maevie. I know that a lot of things have happened these past weeks. I have a lot of things to say to you. So can we have a talk... Face to face.

"Where?" Maevie asked.

As soon as the person heard her ask that, she breath out a sigh of relief. As though she had finally let go of her worry after a tense moment.

-[Me, Alexa and Gia were thinking of meeting up at the Paladins. Can me meet up there?]

Maevie almost scoffed out loud at the audacity. Paladins was one of the most expensive high end clubs in the city. For Fellina to call her there was nothing more than to make her the ATM. And if her past taught her anything, it would not just be the three of them as she was told.

Despite knowing that, Maevie answered.

"I'm doing something right now. I'll see if I can come there before 6."

-[Okay. See you soon.]

The excited girl on the other end did not even wait for Maevie before she hung up, making Maevie sneer at her action.

'How shameless can one be?'

"Who was it? Your friend?" Nora asked from the driver seat. It was her duty to drop Maevie these days.

"Yeah." The actress replied as she climbed up. "They must be calling me to make me pay after them. Like always..."

Nora was about to say that they might be up to no good. But it turned out there was no need for her to. Her boss, ever since she had gotten into the accident had changed a lot. Her changes even made the assistant admire the younger woman.

"So.... Are you going?" She asked.

"Nah! I've better things to do." Maevie said before her eyes glinted with mischief.

"But I can teach them a lesson, can't I?

The smirk on the girl's face sent shiver down Nora's snipe. She couldn't help but wonder what her boss was cooking now.

At the same time, in a café at the suburbs, three girls who were dressed in fancy high end clothes were mocking the very person they had called.

"This is so funny. I thought she would at least scream at you for leaving her there and not picking up he call. But she turned out to be more pathetic than I thought."

"Really. She must be so desperate for a friend. Or with her temper, she would have lashed out on you."

Alexa and Gia commented to Fellina.

"Well. Maevie had always been a fool. You only need to feed to her ego to become her closest friend. Although she's annoying, she does have money. So, I can bear as much for that." The girl wiped her sweat as thought she was sacrificing something big for a reason.

"I heard that the Cacia made her stay in the lock up for three days. I felt a little bad for her. I mean we're the one who took her there." Gia indeed felt some guilt remembering what happened.

"It's not our fault, Gia. First of all, it was her idea to bring Sienne to make her do dumb stuffs. And secondly, she was the one who ended up getting drunk and refusing to leave when we were sneaking away. Besides, we too were not aware that it was a drug party. So, why are we to be blamed?" Alexa refused to hold the blame.

"Lexa's right Gia. It's not our fault. Maevie should be thankful that we're willing to be her friends even after all the things she got into. Otherwise, she's just an unwanted daughter from two families." Fellina under her façade of being Maevie's friend, hated the person the most for many reasons.

"Yeah... These two months must have made Maevie notice that, if not for us. No one will be her friend." Alexa had the same thought.

"Why don't we call the others too? Since Maevie's coming, she'll be one to pay anyway." Fellina voiced out her idea.

"Why not? She always loved to show off her wealth anyway. We're just helping her."

Laughed out loud at the thought, not knowing that this was exactly what Maevie wanted. For many people to show up at the expensive club, order many drinks, and get the bills to a whooping five digit. Cause she was not planning to show up anyway.
