"Grandpa, I bought them over, these were the two boys who saw the beast in the jungle"
The old man stopped writing upon hearing his granddaughter's voice. Slowly and steadily, he grabbed his walking stick and stood up from his place. He observed the two boys who were now seating in his room. After a minute-long stare on each of their faces he finally began.
"So, you two were the ones who came across a walker."
Both Akira and Haruto were confused at the term that the old man had used to describe the beast. The old man immediately recognizing the confusion that both of them had, decided to describe what a walker was.
"Let me guess, the beast had many swollen spots on its body, I suppose?"-Fumiko's grandfather began. Akira nodded in agreement, trying to say yes.
"And it had some short of baby face that was way too unsettling to be in that place?"
Akira nodded again.
"I see," Fumiko's grandfather said almost conclusively. He paused for a moment and reached for the glass of water which looked like it had been sitting on his table for a while now. With one big gulp, he drank the entire glass and then waited for a moment again. after some time had passed, He finally began again-
"The thing that tried to attack you is called a walker. Obviously, they never existed here to begin with." he paused for a moment again.
"I used to be a member of the Nobinobi family. It was the only family that ever knew about the Walkers. My great grandfather said that even the term "Walker" had come from somewhere else, somewhere far away where we could never go."
"Somewhere far away?"- asked Akira, very curious at this old man's story.
"Yes."
"Not long after though, my great grandmother disappeared, and everybody blamed my great grandfather for it and even went as far as to accuse him of murdering her. No one could ever gather enough evidence for it and as it were supposed to be, he left the family and drove his own sword across his neck. The secrets that have been kept through the generations of my family are far deeper than anything and I might finally have an answer to everything with the disappearance of your friend."
AKI
The sun had turned in for the day when the train had come across huge fields of farms which stretched across hundreds of acres of lands. The scenery was especially beautiful because the moon had been shining with its full intensity that night, even the stars seemed to be twinkling as brightly they could. Who could have thought that a place this beautiful could even exist outside of the space of earth? - Aki wondered to himself.
After a moment of enjoying the cool breeze of the night that hit him on the face, Aki turned to look at Emi. She had dozed off as quickly as the train took its pace, her face looked relieved, almost as if a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She could finally stop; she could finally hold her husband and sleep on his shoulders. Aki place a sympathetic arm around her not knowing what to do or say.
A few minutes had passed by when suddenly the train had a huge jerk across its carriages. No this wasn't a normal jerk; this one was big almost as if the roof of a carriage had been broken. Emi woke up at once, she had sensed that something was different. the entire atmosphere around them had changed, she slowly opened the door of their compartment and started heading towards the sound.
"Stay behind me, don't even take a step elsewhere." She told Aki.
Aki was too scared to even leave her side. What was this strange change in the air around them that he had felt? was it someone else? He stayed behind her at full alert trying to brace for anything that would come their way.
"He shouldn't be here you know"- A man's voice called out.
In the very next second, the door of their carriage flew out of its place almost as if it had been hit with an enormous magnetic force. A masked man stood in the place of the door; covered in full black clothes. With a coat over his sweater, he wore a demonic mask which seemed to look like it represented some kind of cult. The man suddenly started to walk towards them. Emi immediately got to her senses and pulled out a glass-like magic sword out of thin air. Aki was impressed at her powers and thought that she looked cool.
"You shouldn't have done this Emi!"- said the masked man.
"That boy is the reason people died; I won't let it happen again."
"YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!"- Emi yelled at once, she seemed very angry at the man's remark.
"I'm the only one who knows that"- the man said almost conclusively.
Suddenly out of thin air, the man drew out long chain that had a huge blade attached to the end of it. unlike Emi's, his looked like it had been crafted out of flames; it burned. It burned with full intensity. One could almost feel the pain and agony that the fire carried with it- destroying anything that would come its way. With full energy the man swung the sword around cutting each cabin in half. Aki froze in his place with fear when he saw what the blade could do.
"Aki! Run!"- Emi yelled at once.
Aki coming back to his senses, immediately gained control of his legs and began running in the opposite direct.
"I won't let you take him away from me" - Emi said at once and began running towards the man, with a full swing she drove her sword towards his neck but was met with the flames of the blade halfway. The man, not waiting even a second immediately brought the blade one full circle trying to hit her with it. No. Emi wasn't someone who was going to let this go by without putting up fight.
With full force she jumped and kicked the man on his chest, letting him fly into the other coach at once. Aki was surprised at the power of Emi and made a mental note to never upset her.
"You don't understand the consequences of your actions Emi!"- The man said as loudly as he could.
"No! you don't understand how it feels to lose someone!"- responded Emi.
The man, realizing at once that reasoning wasn't going to work on her immediately jumped out of his and punched her on the face with all his might.
Slash! came Emi's sword flying down at him. He blocked every single attack from Emi without even missing once. The fight looked unlike anything that Aki had ever seen.
Out of nowhere Aki was suddenly hit with a huge headache. He could neither cry out for help nor stand up on his own. He carved up and held his head in his hands as tightly as he could.
Memories were flowing in and out of him, flashing certain moments of his life and a life that he had never seen. what was happening?
"I Love you, Aki"- He heard a girl's voice, but it sounded so faint, so out of reach. he could barely confirm the identity of the voice. He tried to look up at Emi but there she was, fighting the man with all her might. He couldn't let her down, not yet.
"This was all your fault!" - another voice came as he shrieked in pain. He couldn't die here, not yet. But for some reason it took every little strength in his body to even survive this headache.
"Emi,"-He tried to call for her. Emi couldn't help him yet; she was trying to take down the man who wanted Aki to be dead. Aki could barely see, but the fight taking place between the two of them looked enormous, breaking every object that fell in the range of the flaming sword and the glass sword. The man with all his might kept striking everything that stood in the direction of Emi, likewise, Emi with all her might kept slashing her sword in the direction of the masked man in an attempt to take him down. wounds opened and blood was spilled, but neither of them were prepared to accept defeat.
In an unexpected turn of events the masked man finally managed to hit Emi with his blade. It cut through her skin and stopped 4 inches in. everything stopped around them for a moment, this couldn't happen, how could she die so soon?
Aki could finally see everything clearly, the body of Emi lying there, blood dripping from her stomach where the wound had been made by the flaming sword. Something finally woke inside him. Something that had been dormant inside him for far too long. He couldn't let her die just yet.
"Target has been selected- "THE WINGMAN" confirm elimination?"
A window appeared in front of his eyes out of nowhere. what was happening?
"Bonus gift on elimination - revive anyone you want x1"
Aki couldn't process what was happening anymore. All he wanted was to put an end to this.
"Confirm elimination"
