She turned her head away from the splash and buried her face against the nape of his neck.
He chuckled at the gesture.
“Well, since we’ve come this far....”
Heesoo thought he was about to carry her out of the water.
But instead, Calix strode straight toward the center of the waterfall, where it looked even deeper.
“Calix, go back! That way!”
Panicking, Heesoo frantically pointed toward the shore.
“No! Water, no!”
She strung together what little she could say, desperate to get the message across.
But he just kept smiling, playful as ever.
The hand supporting her bottom slipped away for a moment, and she clung to him even tighter in sheer terror.
“You’re speaking so well now. Keep saying my name. Calix.”
“Calix....”
He gently brushed her wet bangs back from her forehead.
A quiet laugh escaped him—she looked so endearing, pressed close with that nervous little pout.
She kept darting her eyes toward the edge of the water.
“There... go there.”
