Chapter 26

NICK POV

I stared out the window, absently thinking about her and what she was doing. This time, I often asked myself if she missed me or even thought about me, but who was I kidding? That was just a one-night stand. I guess it was useless to get attached to her.

"Nicholas."

I turned around once I heard someone mention my name.

It was Kate.

In her hands, she held a tray that contained my breakfast.

Our eyes locked, and she smiled at me.

"I thought it would be a good day to bring your breakfast to your room since you weren't willing to come down for breakfast."

"Thanks, Kate, but I'm not really hungry. Just take it away."

Kate placed the breakfast tray on the table.

"It's because of that woman, right?" she asked curiously, trying to keep her tone casual.

It was clear that she was jealous.

Jealous of Karliah.

"I don't want to have this conversation with you, Kate. Let's just put the past behind us."

She suddenly laughed out loud, as if she were taunting me.
