KARLIAH POV
Lucas stared at me with a heartbroken expression, as if I had stabbed him in the heart or something.
Our eyes locked in a frenzy.
"I'll be leaving tomorrow morning."
He tried to reach out to me, but I backed away from him.
"Don't…" I warned sternly.
Things were already complicated between us, and the last thing I wanted to do was make things worse.
"Karliah, goddammit, I can't do this anymore!"
He looked frustrated and broken, and it was all because of me.
"I can't pretend like I don't feel anything romantic for you. I don't think I can be your friend anymore."
"Lucas, what are you saying?"
"Amelia was right, Karliah. I've always been clueless ever since day one."
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.
"Karliah, I fell in love with you."
"It has always been you," he said in a low voice.
For a moment, I remained silent.
"Lucas, I don't know what to say."
He nodded quietly.
