**LISA POV**
Karliah was almost killed, and all I cared about was winning the race so that I could impress them. Honestly, I felt ashamed of myself.
I could still see the pain evident in Karliah's eyes when I chose to cross the finish line instead. Aside from that, Nicolas was also fighting for his life.
After changing my clothes, I decided to go to the hospital because I couldn't stop thinking about Karliah. I just hoped that she was unharmed.
"Where do you think you're going?"
I turned around and met my own reflection.
"I'm going to see Karliah."
"What for? I thought that she didn't mean anything to you."
"I only said those things because I wanted to protect her. Besides, I didn't have a choice."
"We always have a choice, Lisa. You could have chosen to be with Karliah, but you're still letting your parents make decisions for you."
"Besides, you don't even love her, so just leave her alone. Things are better off that way between the two of you."
