"And what did he want?" I asked curiously.
"He just wanted us to talk, and I think that it's necessary to tell him the truth about our old relationship."
"Karliah, you don't have to explain yourself because you don't owe Nicolas any explanation."
"I think that I do, Lisa; otherwise, I wouldn't be feeling this way. You know when I came to the palace for the first time, I convinced myself that I was madly in love with Nick."
"Then I realized that I wasn't in love with him; it was never love because when I saw you, I knew that you were trouble, and now everything has changed."

"Don't forget that what happened between us is in the past; now let's just focus on the present."
I nodded quietly.
It was clear that Karliah didn't want to fix anything between the two of us. I had officially messed up everything, and now I've lost the only person that made me feel whole again.
