LISA POV
"Are you trying to get rid of me?" Karliah asked softly while staring at me.
I was stunned to hear this revelation.
"No."
"Anita's company is good and trustworthy. I think you should consider accepting her offer, Karliah. This might be life-changing for you."
She nodded quietly.
"I'll think about it, Lisa."
She placed some files on my desk.
"I wanted to give you these, but I guess I was interrupting you and Anita."
I cocked a brow at her.
"You sound jealous."
She frowned at me, crossing her arms over her chest.
"And what makes you think that I'm jealous?"
"Why would I even be jealous of Anita?"
I raised my hands up in defense.
"You don't need to get all defensive, Karliah. I was only joking with you, and since you're here for the review, you should sit down."
She sighed softly as she made herself comfortable.
"That so-called joke of yours wasn't funny at all."
"Sorry, I won't be repeating it. So back to work?"
"Yeah, let's begin."
