Keeping Things in order

Chapter 13

The tenderness and spice was just right. Everything was at the right proportion, maybe it was the lake water added to it but when she ate she felt a burst of energy and her heart body felt warm like calm current flowing through her body. Looking at the kids their eyes was squinted in satisfaction and enjoyment as they are their food.

They ate hungrily almost wolfing everything down. Within minutes they had swept the plates clean and still looking eagerly at her plate. She had already eaten bits so she gave the remaining to them. Wide eyed the looked motionless at her

"Here you go. You both can share this I'm full. When you're done do wash the plates and come meet me outside, there is something we have to discuss and it's important alright?".

The kids nodded simultaneously making her chuckle. She ruffled their hair and went for a walk in the compound to aid digestion. She was thinking of giving the kids names. The address of Xiao 1 and Xiao 2 was now unacceptable to her anymore so wanted to change it. But the problem was her cheap husband reaction if he finds out.

Ugh...

She was already having a headache at the thought. She was brought out of her thoughts when she saw the children step outside. They were obviously done with the chores and now looking nervously at her. Observing them Su Ying noticed a striking similarity between the younger one and her and also between the older one and his father. Looking at those adorable faces she felt her heart soften and maternal instincts kicked in.

"You both must be wondering why I called you out here right? Don't be afraid I wanted to discuss something with you both concerning your name. I want to change your names to something more good so I wanted to know your thoughts on it. Can I give you both new names?".

The kids stood motionless staring at her like she dropped a bomb. No doubt she did because the original host never bothered to name the kids although she was a bit literate leaving the kids with the name Xiao 1 and Xiao 2. Nevertheless they nodded profusely as their eyes glimmered without anticipation and uncertainty. Receiving their permission Su Ying felt delighted and decided to give them their name. They nervously looked at her as they waited her response,

"The elder one will now be called Xiao Yu which means "little jade" while the younger will becalled Xiao Ming which means "little bright". Because you both are mom's little treasures ".

A pure and genuine smile spread across their lips as they repeated their name and what it means. Soon the started giggling at their mother's words. Watching them so happy Su Ying swore to give them all the good things she has. They were her kids from now so with that thought she pulled them both into a hug, ruffled their hair and kissed their cheeks before going back inside leaving the kids flustered.

With their kids blushing as red as tomatoes they both looked at each other.

"Big brother I'm now Xiao Ming and you are Xiao Yu. Mom named us, cooked for us, bathed us and even kissed our cheeks. This means mom now loves us" Xiao Ming grinned foolishly.

Xiao Yu watching him also smiled but didn't respond to his brother. He was happy but also afraid. What if all of this was a dream or what if she was just pretending then both him and his brother won't be able to bear the pain. So he dared not hope for fear of being hurt. He only hoped this dream could last a little longer so they could bask in their mother's love.

Su Ying had no idea of the thought running through Xiao Yu's mind as she entered back into her room to plan the remaining day. It was almost 2pm and the sun was shining brightly. Her first task was to clean the house and wash the clothes. After that it was to think of what to eat for dinner. Sighing she decided to take one task at a time.

Looking around she went to her bed and started rummaging for dirty clothes. She found at least 10 clothes under the bed. Carrying them she went to kids room to fetch her cheap husband's clothes but found none. All of his clothes were neat and tidily folded earning her admiration. The house only had two rooms and a kitchen. The outhouse was outside the house with barely any properties to show that it was a normal house. Taking her clothes outside she kept it one place and fetched the bucket to go fetch water from the stream. She could have gone to wash it there but the original host reputation was really bad and she wasn't in the mood to bicker with anyone.

Everything had to be in order, So after instructing the kids to be careful she left on her way to the stream. Relying on her memories she arrived at the stream which was not that far from their house. Thankfully there was no one on the stream so she fetched her water and went back immediately.
