"Ting"
[Main Task: Have Elias top the upcoming exam: Completed.]
[Reward in inventory]
Before Elias even came back home and conveyed the news to her, Ariana already learnt it.
"Elder sister!"
The front door burst open, and Elias practically ran inside.
His hands clutched a sheet of paper—his result sheet.
Excitement radiated from him, his entire face lit up with a grin so wide it could barely fit his face.
Ariana didn't even need to look at the paper.
The sheer joy in his eyes told her everything.
Still, she glanced at the sheet.
His name.
At the very top.
He had won by a landslide, the second-place student trailing far behind.
Pride swelled in her chest.
Without a second thought, she reached over and ruffled his hair.
For once, he didn't stop her.
"See?" she smirked. "I told you my method was foolproof. You just needed to trust the process."
Elias nodded enthusiastically. "I'll listen to elder sister from now on!"
Ariana chuckled. "Good."
Then, she pulled out the gift she had prepared.
Elias's eyes widened.
"For me?" he asked in disbelief.
Ariana raised an eyebrow. "Do you see a third person here, duffer?"
He hesitated, fingers hovering over the neatly wrapped box.
"But… this must have cost a lot."
Ariana rolled her eyes. "I'm the personal secretary of President Luiss—I get paid well. This didn't even dent my balance."
Elias still looked uncertain.
Then, something clicked.
"Wait… you bought this beforehand?"
His eyes narrowed. "How did you know I was gonna come on top?"
Ariana coughed, looking away.
"Let's just say I had utmost belief in myself. No way in hell my method was gonna fail."
However, Elias seemed to misinterpret her words.
His expression softened.
"You… believed in me."
His voice was quieter now.
Ariana blinked.
Then—
Ting!
[Sibling Relationship +10]
She internally beamed.
"Yes, yes, of course, I believed in you," she said hurriedly. "I knew from day one that you were the best student any teacher could ask for."
Another chime.
[Sibling Relationship +5]
Ariana hid her smirk.
She was curious to see what happened when the stats hit 100.
But for now…
She just enjoyed the genuine happiness on Elias's face.
...
Back at the office, Ariana prepared all the details for the correspondence between Luiss Corporation and Skyline project undertakers. Gerald and Luiss combined work power was needed for the project. So it was a multi-dimensional project. Not only did they have to see the relationship between Luiss Groups and the main company, but they had to be mindful of the companies working along side.
As she rummaged through the files, she found a familiar yet unfamiliar name.
"The Voss Corporations." It was the main company group that was undertaking the task of erecting the skyscraper, asking around for funds and alliances.
"Could it be..." Ariana closed her eyes and clicked on the info reward from the system. The heiress of the Voss family...
Such a thing was never mentioned in the original novel. So this was a hidden plotline.
"Well, time will tell."
She went ahead and continued with her work of assorting files and data to brief the senior executive faculty.
A woman came and knocked at Ariana's door. "Ms.Grey, President Luiss is calling you into his office."
Although Luiss had her shift to his office, most of her files and USD were still in her own office.
"I'm coming," Ariana placed the papers into a neat stack, leaving those at top she needed to revise and made her way to Luiss.
The moment Ariana left, another figure slipped through the half-open door.
Margaret.
Her heels barely made a sound as she moved swiftly toward Ariana's desk, her gaze locking onto the project files.
The documents.
The company had sent them directly—official, irreplaceable copies.
Ariana could request a new set, sure, but that would take a week to process.
A week was enough time for other companies to swoop in and secure the project.
A week would mean catastrophic delays.
And when that happened?
All the blame would fall on Ariana.
Margaret reached for a nearby ink bottle, her fingers tightening around it.
"Let's see how you get out of this," she whispered, her lips curling into a sly smirk.
Then—
She tilted the bottle.
Thick, black ink spilled across the crisp white sheets, staining numbers, contracts, and correspondence beyond recognition.
The documents were ruined.
Satisfied, Margaret quickly rearranged the stack, making sure the damage wasn't immediately noticeable.
Then, she turned on her heel and exited the office as stealthily as she had arrived.
Not a single person saw her.
By the time Ariana returned, it would be too late.
And Margaret?
She would simply sit back and enjoy the show.
