Chapter 94: Battle of the Cunning Warriors

"Contestants for the first match: Kaname Tetsu versus Kamizuki Izumo," announced Mutsuki, revealing the names for the opening battle.

Kamizuki Izumo and Kaname Tetsu couldn't help but sigh when they realized fate had pitted them against each other in the first round.

"Tetsu, I thought today would be the day we made a name for ourselves, but it seems the heavens envy talent," Kamizuki Izumo lamented.

"Indeed," Kaname Tetsu nodded solemnly, sharing his brother-in-arms' grief.

If fate had been kinder, they might have faced off in the finals, culminating in a memorable showdown.

"Izumo, our newly refined Deception Technique is powerful. However, as brothers in arms, perhaps we should refrain from using it against each other," Kaname Tetsu suggested earnestly.

Kamizuki Izumo pondered for a moment before smiling and nodding. "Agreed. That sounds fair."

"You two, stop talking like you're from a historical drama and get ready for the fight already. Stop wasting time," Anko interjected, clearly unimpressed by their theatrics.

Ignoring the ever-practical Anko, the two strode to the battlefield, assuming their stances.

"Begin!" Mutsuki's voice signaled the start of the duel.

At his command, both participants charged at each other, engaging in close-quarters combat.

Their skills were evenly matched, a testament to their shared training and identical teacher. Punch after punch, elbow against elbow, they battled fiercely for two minutes without a clear victor emerging.

"Now's the time," Kaname Tetsu thought to himself.

"Although we're brothers, the world of shinobi is harsh. I'll carry your will forward, Izumo," he resolved, readying himself to unleash the Deception Technique.

"I'm sorry, Tetsu, but I'm a shinobi too," Kamizuki Izumo said with a sly smile, hands moving swiftly into a series of seals.

Kaname Tetsu's eyes widened in disbelief. "Damn it, Izumo's even less trustworthy than I thought!"

With a flourish of seals, Kamizuki Izumo completed his jutsu. The battlefield was suddenly filled with four alluring figures resembling him, each clad in revealing outfits and exuding an almost magnetic allure.

Even though Kaname Tetsu had seen this jutsu multiple times during practice, he couldn't help but falter. His focus wavered, his movements slowed, and his gaze wandered to the "breathtaking peaks" before him.

He wasn't the only one. Many spectators were similarly captivated, their attention fixated on the hypnotic display.

Mutsuki froze momentarily, muttering to himself, "Isn't this Naruto's Sexy Jutsu? How did it make an early debut? This butterfly effect is getting out of hand."

Taking advantage of Kaname Tetsu's distraction, Kamizuki Izumo delivered a swift kick, sending his opponent sprawling.

Kaname Tetsu regained his senses instantly, shocked at how effective the technique was. "Even someone with a steadfast will like me wasn't immune to this jutsu!"

Determined to turn the tables, he quickly retreated while forming seals of his own.

Moments later, the battlefield featured four equally captivating yet distinct figures, all emanating from Kaname Tetsu's jutsu.

Upon seeing these new illusions, Kamizuki Izumo hesitated in his pursuit, giving Kaname Tetsu the opportunity to counterattack.

"These idiots... How could such a ridiculous jutsu possibly work? It's so weak it's embarrassing," Anko grumbled from the sidelines, unimpressed.

As the battle intensified on the field, the audience couldn't take their eyes off the spectacle. Ultimately, Kamizuki Izumo emerged victorious, eking out a narrow win.

"Tetsu, this wasn't your defeat. It was the power of Ebisu-senpai's technique!" Kaname Tetsu lamented, unwilling to accept full blame.

"This jutsu owes its refinement to Ebisu-senpai, but a win is a win! I'll carry your will forward," Kamizuki Izumo declared triumphantly.

Meanwhile, the students in the crowd buzzed with intrigue.

"Ebisu? You mean the senior who was the only one promoted last week? Did he really develop such a jutsu?" one student asked, disbelief evident in their tone.

"Yes, it's him. I'm in his class—he's from Year Four, Class Six," another chimed in.

"Honestly, this jutsu seems surprisingly practical. Could he be a genius?" someone speculated.

Regardless of their opinions, Ebisu had gained quite the reputation in Group C.

Unfortunately for Kamizuki Izumo, his triumph was short-lived. In the next round, he faced Uzuki Yugao.

Kamizuki Izumo's illusions failed spectacularly against her. Yugao ignored the decoys entirely and relentlessly chased him down, defeating him swiftly.

"Damn it, I forgot there were female students too!" Kamizuki Izumo groaned, realizing a glaring flaw in his jutsu.

"This is the price for betraying your brother!" Kaname Tetsu mocked loudly.

Meanwhile, Group A's matches were also underway.

"Contestants for the first match: Uchiha Shisui versus Yūhi Kurenai," Mutsuki announced.

"The first match, and it's him…" Kurenai murmured, momentarily stunned.

Despite having only known Shisui for a few weeks, his immense talent had already left a deep impression on her. The senior students in their squad had fallen to him effortlessly, and he dominated the ranking with the top score.

"Kurenai, just do your best," Asuma said encouragingly.

"Watch out for his speed—he's incredibly fast," added Bibiru Raido, recalling his own defeat at Shisui's hands.

With a firm nod, Kurenai steadied herself, determination flashing in her eyes as she stepped onto the battlefield.

"Begin!"

From the very first exchange, Kurenai understood why Bibiru had lost.

Shisui's overwhelming prowess in both taijutsu and ninjutsu left her no room to counterattack. Defending against his relentless strikes demanded all her focus, and she quickly succumbed to his unrelenting pressure.

"Uchiha Shisui is the winner," Mutsuki declared, marking the end of the match.

He glanced at Kurenai thoughtfully. Her talent was decent, rated at an A level. However, her aptitude lay in genjutsu—a discipline notoriously underwhelming in the shinobi world unless enhanced by the Mangekyō Sharingan.

"It's alright. Even Raido couldn't beat him—this guy's a genius," Asuma consoled Kurenai.

Meanwhile, Raido gave Asuma a sharp glare, clearly displeased with the reminder of his loss.

"Contestants for the next match: Uchiha Obito versus Might Guy."

The training grounds buzzed with anticipation as the matches continued.
