Chapter 95: Obito Doesn't Shine Without Pressure

"They're facing each other in the first round?"

The fourth-year students watching the match couldn't help but feel pity. Might Guy and Obito were ranked first and second in their year in combat, with enough strength to make it into the semi-finals, even in the powerful A group.

But meeting so early meant that one of them was bound to be eliminated.

"Whether it's Obito or Guy who wins, one major competitor will be out of the way," Asuma thought as he observed the match-up.

Although he wasn't as familiar with Guy as he was with Obito, Guy's ability to defeat Obito in previous tests spoke volumes about his strength.

Determined to gather intel, Asuma focused intently, hoping to glean information about both of their fighting styles.

"The first match is against Guy..." Obito muttered, frowning at the daunting challenge ahead.

Guy had already mastered the "Shave" technique, while Obito was still struggling with fully stacking the three-speed layers. However, Obito didn't consider himself completely outmatched.

Their current physical stamina made it impossible to use "Shave" repeatedly in a short span—it put too much strain on their leg muscles. Thus, Obito believed he only faced a slight disadvantage, not an outright loss.

Guy, meanwhile, was already fired up. Facing Obito in the first match of the test only intensified his determination.

Both competitors quickly stepped into the combat arena, preparing for the match.

"Begin!"

At the command, Guy disappeared from his spot almost instantly.

"Leaf Great Whirlwind!"

Guy's spirited voice echoed across the arena.

Facing Obito, who trained with him daily, Guy knew there was no need for testing the waters. He immediately went all out, accelerating to maximum speed with a triple-stacked "Shave" and unleashing his most powerful kick.

"So fast!"

The surrounding students exclaimed in awe.

To them, it seemed as though Guy had teleported, his figure vanishing in a blink.

"What incredible speed... Is this the Body Flicker Technique?" Asuma was equally stunned.

Although he had learned the Body Flicker Technique himself, it wasn't nearly as fast and required hand signs to activate.

Obito's strategy was the opposite of Guy's. While Guy aimed for close-quarters combat, Obito wanted to create distance and utilize ninjutsu.

However, Guy's speed gave him the upper hand. Obito couldn't fully evade Guy's kick and had to block with his arm. The impact caused Obito's arm to tremble uncontrollably.

Finding himself on the defensive, Obito's mind raced. He realized that if he let Guy control the rhythm of the fight, defeat was inevitable. Deciding to take action, Obito used "Shave" twice in succession to create significant distance between them.

Though Guy quickly followed, he used only one "Shave" and couldn't entirely close the gap.

"It's over," Guy thought confidently.

Counting the initial exchange, Obito had already used "Shave" three times in a single minute. Even Guy, with his stronger physique, wouldn't dare to push himself that far. Obito likely couldn't maintain his speed or even run properly anymore.

"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

Ignoring the strain on his legs, Obito formed hand seals and unleashed a three-meter-high fireball at Guy.

Despite the fireball's size and intensity, Guy remained calm. He kept his focus on his surroundings, wary of any surprise attacks that might follow.

To his surprise, Obito didn't take advantage of the distraction to attack further. When Obito re-entered Guy's field of vision, there were suddenly five Obitos scattered across the battlefield.

"Using the fireball to obscure my vision and set up clones, huh?" Guy quickly deduced Obito's plan.

All five Obitos moved in different directions, making it hard to distinguish the real one from the clones. But Guy soon noticed that one of the Obitos was running slightly slower, with a faint expression of discomfort on his face.

"Got you!" Guy exclaimed, gathering chakra in his legs and using "Shave" to dash toward the slower Obito, aiming to take him out in one swift strike.

"Leaf Whirlwind!"

Guy delivered a spinning kick directly at the slower Obito.

To his surprise, the moment his kick landed, the Obito he hit vanished.

"A decoy! It's a clone!" Guy's expression changed as he quickly turned to search for the real Obito.

The real Obito was already nearby, having completed the seals for his next Fire Style jutsu.

"Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!"

A half-meter-high fiery dragon shot out of Obito's mouth, rushing toward Guy with alarming speed.

Feeling the searing heat, Guy had no choice but to use a two-layered "Shave" despite the pain in his legs, trying to evade the fiery attack.

But the Dragon Flame Jutsu was different from the Fireball Jutsu—it could change direction. As Guy's figure flickered away, Obito controlled the fire dragon to follow him.

"Water Style: Water Formation Wall!"

Just as the dragon was about to reach Guy, a water wall rose and intercepted the flames.

It was Moonlight Sensei who had stepped in.

"Obito Uchiha is the winner!"

Moonlight Sensei announced the result.

Whether it was because of his previous training or because he excelled under pressure, Obito had managed to turn the tables and win against the odds.

"Guy, this time I won," Obito said with a triumphant grin.

He was thrilled to have finally defeated Guy in an official match, especially coming from behind to claim victory.

But before Guy could respond, Obito suddenly collapsed, fainting from overexertion.

"Obito, are you okay?" Guy rushed over, concerned.

Moonlight Sensei appeared and picked up Obito, explaining, "He's likely exhausted from chakra overuse. I'll take him to the Konoha Hospital."

Leaving behind a shadow clone to continue overseeing the matches, Moonlight Sensei took Obito to get checked out.
