As expected by Yumeyue, Obito's body had no significant issues. He was simply experiencing chakra exhaustion coupled with physical fatigue from using Shunpo multiple times in a short period.
After all, Obito had unleashed both Great Fireball Technique and Great Dragon Fire Technique, in addition to multiple incomplete Shunpo maneuvers and the use of the Clone Technique. Among these, the Clone Technique consumed the least chakra but was still critically important in determining the battle's outcome.
After receiving medical treatment, Obito quickly regained consciousness. Seeing Yumeyue sitting beside him, he couldn't wait to share the highlights of his recent battle.
"When I got hit by Guy's kick at the start, I knew that if the battle progressed normally, I would definitely lose. So, I decided to use Shunpo to create distance and rely on ninjutsu, even at the risk of being unable to use Shunpo again."
"To conserve chakra, the Great Fireball Technique I used wasn't actually as powerful as it looked; it was mainly to distract Guy and block his vision."
As he talked about how he managed to deceive Guy with the Clone Technique, Obito's face lit up with excitement. His enthusiasm was evident.
"I knew Guy has a sharp eye for detail during fights. So, I endured the pain and deliberately controlled one of my clones to appear fatigued and struggling. It was all a ploy to mislead him."
For Obito, today's battle was something he could brag about for a whole year. There were just so many clever tactics involved. He hadn't created the subtle differences in his clones right from the start; instead, the discrepancies only appeared after a short period, making the ruse even more believable.
"Your performance today was excellent. If you can stay this calm in future battles, you'll have a bright future," Yumeyue praised.
He never hesitated to commend his students when they performed well. Holding back praise out of fear of inflating their egos could lead to a lack of self-confidence instead.
In Yumeyue's mind, Obito's progress meant he could no longer be rated as just an average shinobi. He'd risen to the rank of an exceptional one.
"Hehe, it's all thanks to your great teaching, Yumeyue-sensei," Obito chuckled, wearing a satisfied smile.
Why had Obito said so much just now? To brag? Of course not. There was no point in boasting to his teacher about defeating a peer.
He simply wanted to showcase his growth and earn Yumeyue's acknowledgment.
If Obito had one regret about the battle, it was the absence of two people—Rin Nohara and Kakashi.
If Rin had been there, she would have praised his tactical ingenuity. And Kakashi, that arrogant brat, wouldn't have dared to underestimate him anymore.
After confirming that Obito was fine, he asked Yumeyue to take him back to the training grounds to watch the other matches.
Yumeyue thought for a moment, understanding that Obito didn't want to miss out on the rest of the exam. Since he wasn't injured and had recovered sufficiently, Yumeyue agreed to take him back.
By the time Yumeyue's main body returned to the training grounds, the first round of matches had already concluded. Half the students had been eliminated, and the second-round battles were underway. There was still some time before Obito's next match.
In the second round, Shisui's opponent was once again a newly graduated Genin. As expected, Shisui defeated his opponent cleanly and efficiently, surprising no one.
Among Class A students, the general consensus was that only Guy, Obito, and Asuma had any realistic chance of defeating Shisui.
Originally, Reiton Binzoku might have been considered part of this group. However, after his decisive loss, no one believed he could prevail against Shisui in a rematch.
Obito's second-round opponent was a fourth-year student. Even though Obito wasn't at peak condition, he still managed to win decisively.
The third-round battles were similar, but one noteworthy match involved Asuma and his teammate, Reiton Binzoku.
When Reiton Binzoku faced Asuma, it became evident that everyone had underestimated both him and Shisui.
Looking back, they realized that regardless of whether Shisui faced a fourth-year student or a freshly graduated Genin, he always won in about the same amount of time.
Was Shisui's strength inconsistent? That seemed unlikely.
The only explanation was that Shisui deliberately adjusted his power to match his opponent, choosing to win gracefully rather than overwhelming them entirely.
In his match against Asuma, Reiton Binzoku displayed remarkable speed. Although it wasn't quite at the level of Guy's Shunpo, it was still among the best in Class A. His swift movements and kunai attacks gave Asuma a lot of trouble.
However, Asuma had grown accustomed to being on the receiving end of beatings over the past few days. Despite Reiton Binzoku's relentless attacks, Asuma kept his composure and eventually found an opening to secure victory.
As the sun began to set in the western sky, the battles drew closer to their conclusion. The final four students were now determined, with the next match pitting Obito against Asuma.
Both had endured tough fights earlier, and Obito had even fainted from exhaustion. However, by this time, he had mostly recovered.
Unlike his earlier fight with Guy, where Obito relied on distance and ninjutsu, he immediately closed in on Asuma and engaged in close-quarters combat.
Obito's training had significantly improved his taijutsu. While he still lagged behind Guy and Shisui, he was more than capable of holding his own against other peers.
Obito's sudden charge caught Asuma completely off guard. Watching Obito avoid close combat with Guy earlier, Asuma had assumed Obito's taijutsu was still his weak point.
But when the fight began, Asuma quickly realized his mistake. Obito's Shunpo followed by a Leaf Whirlwind left him utterly dazed.
A miscalculation in judgment cost Asuma his chance at victory. Unable to recover, he eventually succumbed to Obito's attacks.
"For the final match: Uchiha Shisui versus Uchiha Obito," Yumeyue announced the names of the last two competitors.
"Both from the Uchiha Clan. Truly a prestigious lineage," Ebisu remarked, sighing.
Though they were the same age, Ebisu couldn't help but feel the gap between himself and the clan prodigies. He had been eliminated in the first round.
"What a shame. I could've won if Obito's taijutsu hadn't improved so much," Asuma lamented.
"As seniors, we've failed to meet expectations. We'll need to train even harder in the future," Kurenai Yuhi said with determination.
As Obito walked to the battlefield to face Shisui, his emotions were complex.
He had fought Guy many times before, but he had barely faced Shisui.
Early on, Obito often found Shisui's progress demoralizing. Things that took Obito a week to master, Shisui could learn in a single afternoon. And Shisui was not only younger but also from the same clan.
However, Obito no longer dwelled on such comparisons. Shisui was strong, but Obito was no slouch either.
Even though Obito didn't believe he had a chance of defeating Shisui today, especially given his current condition, he resolved to give it his all.
As expected, Obito lost the final match. However, he wasn't disheartened. He had fought to the best of his ability and was already overjoyed with his performance that day.
After all, he had managed to defeat Guy. He could hardly wait to tell Rin about his thrilling comeback victory.
