Inside the room, Jason sat in the middle, surrounded by people on all sides. He had calmed down considerably after everything that had unfolded. The voices around him—though sometimes heated—were now oddly comforting. Deep down, he knew they wouldn't actually do anything against him.
So, when Ethan leaned closer, towering over him and demanding, "Tell me, who are you, and why did you hit me?" Jason just sighed. The fight had drained out of him, and he mumbled, "Sure, sure, sure."
He took a deep breath before diving into his story. At first, the words came hesitantly, but as he got into it, the whole tale spilled out. He explained how he had tried to get tickets to impress his crush, Amanda, the awkward car ride, the kiss he'd witnessed, and how he had stormed out in anger and frustration.
Every few minutes, someone interrupted him with a question or comment, making the explanation stretch on for what felt like forever. Jason found himself recounting the events in excruciating detail—down to the brand of soda he'd been holding when he saw Amanda and the 18-year-old kissing. By the time he finished, at least 20 minutes had passed.
He looked around, noticing that everyone had somehow found a seat during his rant. For a moment, silence filled the room. Then, the bear-like man standing off to the side broke the silence with a low, rumbling voice. "Wow. That's... intense."
Jason nodded, expecting sympathy or maybe even a few words of encouragement. But instead, laughter erupted from one corner of the room. The source? A woman who had been quietly observing the entire time.
"Ha! Ha! HA! Oh my God, this is hilarious!" she cackled, doubling over. "Ethan, I take back what I said before. You are not a simp. Nowhere near a simp compared to this kid, at least!" She was practically gasping for air between fits of laughter.
Jason's face turned red as his anger bubbled back to the surface. Meanwhile, the other lady—Jessica, as she was called—shot the laughing woman a stern glare. "Rebecca," Jessica said firmly, her voice sharp enough to cut through the laughter.
Rebecca tried to compose herself, stifling her giggles. "I'm sorry," she said, still snickering. "But Jessica, you have to admit, this is funny."
Jessica folded her arms, her expression unimpressed. "Even if it is funny, don't laugh near the kid. You might hurt his feelings."
Jason, who had been trying to keep his composure, couldn't hold back any longer. "Hurt my feelings?" he snapped. "The guy is a pedophile! He kissed my underaged sister! He should be in jail!"
The room fell silent, the accusation hanging heavy in the air. Then, Tree—a laid-back man leaning against the wall—cleared his throat. "Wait, isn't he 18 and your sister 16?" Tree asked casually. "I don't think he really did anything wrong."
Jason's jaw dropped. "Are you kidding me?! Of course, it's wrong!" he shouted, his voice cracking with frustration.
Taylor Swift, who had been quietly observing until now, chimed in. "I kind of agree with Tree," she said thoughtfully. "I mean, when I was 22, I dated a guy who had just turned 18. It's not that different."
As soon as the words left her mouth, every head in the room turned to stare at her. Even Tree, who had been nodding in agreement, suddenly looked uncomfortable.
"Taylor, darling," Tree said awkwardly, "I don't think you should say that out loud."
Taylor blinked, glancing around at the stunned faces. "What?" she said defensively. "What's the big deal?"
When no one responded, she crossed her arms and added, "Better." Then, turning her attention back to Jason, she said bluntly, "As for you, kid, that crush of yours? I'd advise you to end it. That girl isn't into you at all."
Jason's eyes widened, his face twisting with indignation. "What do you know about that?!" he shouted. "Amanda is just playing hard to get! Just wait—I'll win her over!"
Rebecca, who had been trying (and failing) to suppress her laughter, burst into another fit of giggles. "Oh, this is pure gold," she said between laughs.
Jason glared at her, his anger boiling over again, but Rebecca only laughed harder, wiping tears from her eyes. The room seemed to teeter between chaos and hilarity, with Jason caught in the center of it all.
Seeing Jason's expression of frustration and defeat, Rebecca leaned forward, smirking. "Kid, I'd listen to her," she said, her tone dripping with casual indifference. "That girl doesn't like you romantically—not one bit. Honestly, I don't really care what you do, but the fact that you stood up for your sister shows you're not completely a fool for her. My advice? Find a way to move on."
Jason sat there, processing her words. His face shifted from anger to thoughtfulness, but Rebecca wasn't done. She tilted her head, her smirk fading into a more serious expression. "And another thing—if you believe that guy is a pedophile, why did you leave your sister alone with him just because you were mad? That's really dumb, kid."
Jason's eyes widened, and it was like a switch flipped in his brain. His sister's name echoed in his mind. Claire. He had left Claire behind in his blind rage. What if something had happened to her? Panic surged through him, and he quickly looked up, addressing the group. "Please, can you let me go? I need to check on her. Please."
Rebecca smiled faintly, leaning back in her chair. "Okay, okay. Relax, kid. I'm sure she's fine. Bill, untie him," she said, gesturing to the bear-like man.
"Sure," Bill replied, moving toward Jason.
But before he could undo the ropes, Ethan, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, raised a hand. "Wait."
Everyone turned to him, eyebrows raised. "What now?" Rebecca asked, exasperated.
Ethan crossed his arms, his gaze fixed on Jason. "The story he told? He never actually explained why he punched me."
Rebecca groaned, rolling her eyes. "Dude, really? You're still on that?"
"Hell yeah, I'm still on that," Ethan shot back, clearly not ready to let it go.
He turned to Jason, his expression demanding. "So? Why did you punch me?"
Jason scratched the back of his neck, laughing awkwardly. "Uh… honestly, there wasn't really a reason. I just got mad. I mean, it's because of your concert that all of this happened. Then, when I saw you, I guess all that anger just… came out. And before I knew it—bam!" He gestured dramatically, mimicking a punch.
Rebecca erupted into laughter, clutching her stomach. "Oh my God, this kid is something else!" she howled.
Ethan sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. "Really, dude? That's your excuse? And, for the record, my concert isn't even canceled," he added, his voice laced with frustration.
Jason blinked. "Wait, what? It's not?"
Jessica, who had been scrolling through her phone, finally looked up. "Nope. That was all just a rumor. It's been sorted out. You're still performing tomorrow."
Ethan gave Jason a pointed look. "See? So, next time, maybe don't punch the guy whose concert isn't even at fault." He waved a hand dismissively. "Now go check on your sister."
Bill finally untied Jason, and as he stood up, Jason looked around the room, his expression sincere. "Thank you all. And, uh… thanks for not calling the cops."
"Yeah, yeah," Ethan said, waving him off. "Just go."
Jason was halfway to the door when Taylor Swift's voice called out. "Wait."
He turned around, his brow furrowed. Taylor walked over to him, her expression soft but serious. "Jason, remember this—it's always best to enter a relationship when both people genuinely like each other. Trust me, you'll save yourself a lot of heartbreak that way. And when the right girl comes along, the one who actually likes you for who you are, you'll know."
Jason nodded slowly, her words sinking in. "Thank you," he said quietly, before turning and leaving.
Outside, Jason was walking toward his room, his thoughts racing, when he heard someone shouting. "Jason! Jason!"
He turned his head and saw Claire and her friend Lily running toward him. Before he could say anything, Claire flung herself into his arms, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry, Jason! I'm so, so sorry!" she sobbed.
Jason hugged her tightly, smiling despite the guilt gnawing at him. "I'm sorry too, Claire. I overreacted."
Before he could say anything else, a sharp pain shot through his arm. He turned to see Lily glaring at him, her fists clenched. "Are you insane, dude? Where the hell were you? We've been searching the entire hotel and even outside looking for you!" she yelled, barely pausing for breath. "And, by the way, the concert isn't canceled. It was all rumors. You just caused all this drama for no reason!"
Jason blinked, still processing her words, as she continued her rant. "Well? Where were you?" she demanded, her eyes narrowing.
"It's… complicated," Jason muttered, avoiding her gaze.
Lily threw her hands up in exasperation. "What the hell kind of answer is that? Complicated? Do you have any idea how worried we were? That's not an answer—it's bullshit!" she shouted, her voice rising with every word.
As she kept berating him, Jason just stood there, holding Claire and staring at Lily. For the first time, a thought crossed his mind that he couldn't shake: Since when did Lily get this beautiful?
Meanwhile, back in the suite, Tree was zipping up bags and calling out, "Taylor, it's time to go!"
Taylor, who was deep in conversation with Ethan, shouted back, "Give me a minute!"
Ethan smiled at her. "I'm gonna miss you. And, uh… sorry about the crash earlier. And, you know, all the other chaos."
Taylor laughed, brushing it off. "It's all good. I had a really great time—it was fun," she said with a grin.
They hugged, and Ethan said, "Bye, then. And good luck with the album drop."
As Taylor stepped toward the door with Tree, she suddenly paused and turned back. Her eyes swept over Ethan and his team.
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Is something wrong?" he asked.
Taylor smiled mysteriously. "Your concert is tomorrow, right?"
