Alexander and Anna stepped out of the elevator and made their way to his office when Marcus intercepted them in the corridor. He looked uneasy, shifting from one foot to the other. "Alexander, Damien Whitaker is in your office. I tried to stop him, but… well, he just walked right in," Marcus said, looking apologetic.
Alexander's expression hardened instantly, his jaw clenching at the mention of Damien. He nodded curtly and continued walking. Anna, sensing the tension in his demeanor, instinctively moved closer to him, her small hands gripping his sleeve.
When they entered the office, Damien was lounging casually on one of the chairs, his legs crossed as though he owned the place. His piercing gaze landed on Anna the moment they stepped in. He smirked, leaning back.
"So," Damien drawled, his voice dripping with mockery, "this is the famous Anna Wallace you've been hiding from the world and protecting like some precious artifact?"
