Anna watched Alexander walk away toward a group of investors who were eagerly awaiting his attention. He had excused himself briefly, leaving her alone amidst a sea of sophisticated, well-dressed elites. She felt out of place. The grandeur of the launch party, the glittering chandeliers, and the hum of conversations around her only made her feel smaller.
Clutching her glass of wine, Anna looked around the room, her heart pounding with anxiety. Everyone seemed to belong here, except for her. She took a small sip, the bubbly liquid fizzing on her tongue, but it did little to calm her nerves. Deciding she needed a moment away from the crowd, she slipped toward the bathroom, hoping to collect herself.
Unbeknownst to Anna, a group of young women had been watching her the entire time. As she disappeared into the bathroom, they exchanged knowing glances and followed her.
