Tanin glanced at her parents, her heart aching as she watched them sit in silence, their expressions distant and tired. They looked lost.

The betrayal of a child they raised had shattered them, and Tanin knew they hadn't even taken care of themselves.

"Mom, Dad," she said softly. "Have you eaten breakfast?"

Emily shook her head without looking up.

Tanin frowned. "Then let me make something for you."

Thiam looked up at her with a furrowed brow. "You don't have to, Tanin. The maids—"

"Mom doesn't like too many maids in the house," Tanin cut in, smiling faintly. "I'll do it myself."

Emily exhaled shakily, her gaze softening. "You don't have to push yourself, sweetheart."

But Tanin was already standing, determined. "I want to."

She turned toward the kitchen, her legs slightly unsteady, but she ignored the discomfort.
