Chapter 49: Dangling Friendship

My mind is racing with different thoughts of survival and confusion as I stare at the ceiling mindlessly.

After my outburst with Serene, I'd bawled my eyes out and screamed into the bed, the room echoing with every scream that ripped out of my throat.

Few hours after the tears ran dry from my eyes, a pulsating migraine attacked my temples, forcing me to lay back down on the bed and close my eyes.

I sent for Dr Sanders so he should be here any minute from now. All thoughts of the conversation I and Serene had is trying to me their way into my head but I don't let it.

Right now, I'm too livid to be rational.

A knock rasps the door, followed by the soft sound of the door opening.

I slowly turn my head to the side to see Sanders lean frame walking in briskly with a small suitcase in his hand.

"How are you feeling?" He asks, his voice laced with genuine concern.
