Chapter 52: One Way Out

It would be nearly impossible for both Theron and Serene to not hear the loud beating of my heart as my eyes slowly widens at the screen of the phone with shaky hands.

Serene moves the phone away from my face but before she can pocket it, Theron snatches it away from her as well.

Her eyes shoots up at him in panic and she tries to take her phone back but he lifts it up and holds it facing above his head. After a while, his brows creases and he looks down at Serene and I.

I and my best friend simultaneously swallow.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

Serene opens her mouth to speak but she holds back and looks at me. I give her a once over before staring back at a confused Theron.

He turns the screen of the phone towards us, with a smug smile on his face. My mouth hangs open as I take in the picture of a bleeding cat lying on a grass with its eyes open wide

"Why do you both look like you've seen a ghost?" He asks.
