Chapter 34: Dinner with the Parents

"Mother, is he really coming?" Eleanor asked her mother.

Duchess Aveline looked at her and smiled. "Yes, Dear. And you need to be ready. I need you at your best tonight, okay?" she said, while making sure the table was perfect.

Eleanor followed Duchess Aveline. "Did he already informed you why he's coming?"

"Not yet, Dear. But as I said, it will be a good news for all of us."

Eleanor sighed. Duchess Aveline heard it and stopped. She looked at her daughter frowning.

"Why with the face, Eleanor? Look at yourself! You look perfect! Smile, can you?"

Duchess Aveline tapped Eleanor's chin a bit.

"You're perfect. Don't you worry!" she said, before turning her back again.

"That's not what I'm worried about, Mother. What if there is a problem and we should be worried instead of celebrating?"

"And what problem do you think it is?"

Eleanor became silent. She couldn't think of an answer.
