Vynard led Rui to his quarters, his confidence growing with each step. He entertained visions of gaining her allegiance, perhaps even more. Rui, for her part, followed with a quiet composure that belied the intricate plan unfolding in her mind.

Once inside, Vynard closed the door behind them, gesturing for Rui to sit. "I must admit, I wasn't expecting this," he said, attempting to sound nonchalant. "But I'm glad you're here."

Rui smiled demurely, her gaze drifting over the room. "It's a charming space. You must feel quite at home."

Vynard nodded, watching her closely. He took a step closer, but before he could speak further, his vision blurred. A sudden, overwhelming fatigue washed over him, and his knees buckled.

"What…?" he mumbled, his voice slurring as his legs gave way.
