Chapter 35

The Wellington's Residence- Marina's Bedroom

"You have been quiet since we got back, what is it?" Aiden remarked, leaning against the door of Marina's bedroom. He studied her as she sat on her bed, confused and lost in thought.

"I am just… tt... trying to processing everything," The recent happenings had taken a hold on her. "Maxwell, Bard, the ambush—it's a lot to take in."

Aiden stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. "You are tougher than you think, Marin. Don't let Maxwell's stunts get to you."

"Hahaha...", Marina let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "You make it sound so simple. How are you even this calm? You act as if all of this... this... is just business as usual for you."

"It is," Aiden replied bluntly. "And that is why you have me around you. You don't need to worry about Maxwell or Amira. I can handle them."

Marina frowned at him, "And what if you can't? What if this time, Maxwell takes the lead?"
