Chapter 316: Killing Bran’s White-Bearded Grandfather

In the orchard, Little White went into a frenzy, shrieking wildly, rolling in the mud, bending apple trees, snapping brittle branches, and unconsciously spewing streams of dragonfire from his mouth, igniting the rotting leaves and twigs on the ground.

A raven perched atop the tip of an apple tree next to Little White, its red eyes flickering with an unsteady glow.

Dany stood several dozen meters away, seemingly frozen in place, staring blankly, unresponsive. Big Black lay beside her, just as motionless.

Suddenly, Little White's body stiffened and stopped struggling. He opened his mouth wide and let out a loud, long dragon cry—"Aoooh!"

"Courting—death!" At that very moment, in the sea of her soul, Dany sat astride Little White's neck, roaring in fury at the massive blood-eyed raven across from her.

Having previously teamed up with the three dragons to resist the old Dragon King within the Dragonhorn, Dany now seamlessly united the powers of Big Black and Little White, diving into Little White's consciousness to launch a full assault on the will of the green seer within.

It was… strange. Though Big Black wasn't physically present, he was clearly participating in this dual-dragon soul fusion.

It seemed he had completely merged with Dany's soul, taking a step beyond the typical dragon-soul bond into something even more unified.

"Caw-caw!"

Once again defying Dany's expectations, the raven, under the assault of two dragon souls, was like an eagle in the eye of a storm. Its feathers were ruffled and chaotic, yet its form remained stable—it still soared.

"Damn it! This green seer's soul is even tougher than the old Dragon King's!"

Dany's face turned cold as steel. She slapped Little White's neck and shouted, "We are true dragons—invincible! Rip it apart!"

"Screech—!" Little White howled and charged at the red-eyed black raven at full speed.

Boom! To Dany's surprise, instead of the brutal clash she had anticipated, the moment she and Little White collided with the raven, it was sent flying backward, feathers scattering.

They weren't even on the same level.

The raven was utterly overpowered.

"Ah, his soul is resilient, and his will is strong, but his size is small, and his offense is nowhere near a dragon's." Dany suddenly understood and was overjoyed.

Skinchangers were masters of the soul arts, making them highly resistant to spiritual attacks. That's how he had repeatedly shrugged off her soul strikes.

He had even infiltrated her soul sea, using the "Whispers of the Old Gods" to subtly warp her will.

But skinchangers weren't suited for close combat and lacked the complex, variable sorcery of traditional mages.

In just a short while, Little White was biting raven feathers into chaos, spraying blood into the sky, as the raven cried out in pain. Meanwhile, Dany relentlessly cast fire spells, turning the battlefield into a flaming hell, burning the raven's feathers and flesh.

Of course, the raven fought back. Its claws and beak tore bloody scales from Little White, gouging out bloody holes.

But blood and fire shared the same origin—within blood, there was fire; and from fire, life was born. The inferno Dany summoned was deadly to the raven, but healing to Little White. Dragon blood, scales, and flesh burned in the flames, transforming back into energy, replenishing the white dragon's depleted strength.

In contrast, the raven's torn feathers, flesh, and limbs turned into black smoke and vanished within Little White's soul realm.

The battle was clearly turning in Dany's favor.

"Caw-gah!" The black raven wailed, now speaking in a man's voice: "There's no need for us to fight to the death, Daenerys. The dragon has three heads—you're only one of them!"

"No! They are my children. No one will take them from me!" Dany roared.

"One dragon can only have one dragonrider. A dragonrider can't control more than one dragon—you should know this better than I. The gods tasked you with bringing the three dragons back to the world. Each one has its purpose in fate. Let go."

"What's mine—even the gods can't take!"

"If mortals reach out, I'll kill them. If gods reach out, I'll slay gods." Dany laughed wildly. "And it's not like I haven't already killed a few."

"You… you are too greedy. Dragons belong to House Targaryen, not just to you alone." The raven let out a long, blood-tinged cry.

Dany sneered coldly. "The ancestral god of Valyria, Balerion, once told me the same thing. That's why he had the honor of topping my 'Must Kill' list.

I swear, one day—when my power is complete—I'll return to the ruins of Valyria and kill that bastard."

At this point, the raven's body had been torn nearly to shreds. What remained disintegrated in the fiery clouds, leaving only a severed head pinned under Little White's claw.

"You… can't kill me," the raven croaked hoarsely.

"You're dying," Dany said coldly.

Boom! As she spoke, the raven's head exploded into black mist, vanishing beneath Little White's paw.

But in the next instant, within the magma-like red soul realm of Little White, the raven's powerful voice rang out once more: "You don't understand. If our true bodies met, even a thousand of me couldn't defeat you and your dragons. But in the soul domain, I… am eternal!"

Outside the flame-cloud Dany created, a dark mist gradually thickened, forming again into a colossal red-eyed black raven, the size of a mountain.

"Shit!" Dany stared, dumbfounded. The green seer's soul was this tenacious? This indestructible?

"I truly meant no harm to you personally," the raven said, voice full of complexity.

"Nothing is more vile than trying to twist someone's will," she snapped.

"Mercy, duty, honor, faith," the raven said softly. "Aren't those the noblest facets of humanity? You already possessed them. I merely strengthened your resolve—made you more steadfast, more perfect."

Dany pointed at the great raven and said coolly, "I am a queen. A queen accepts counsel, but rejects control from anything above her. Enough talk. You die today."

"Screech—!" Little White roared again, lunging forward with claws flailing and dragonfire blazing. The raven's flesh tore apart, limbs flew in all directions.

Dany continued summoning blazing flames, burning the raven's body and feathers to ash.

The raven cried out, "It's useless! My soul is immortal—ahhh!"

The Green Seer howled in agony, as if his testicles had been crushed."What did you do? My soul's origin is disintegrating! Stop, Daenerys—"

"Hahaha! You dare speak of soul immortality in front of the Mother of Dragons? Do you even know what that means?" Daenerys burst into excited laughter, her guess confirmed.

Within Little White's consciousness space, the Raven's body crackled and burned in the flames. Above Daenerys' soul sea, a steady rain of green soul essence fell.

With each feather and bit of flesh the Raven lost, it was immediately purified into a "clear and white" soul substance.

The Green Seer had irreversibly lost a portion of his soul's origin.

Unlike the usual multicolored soul essence, the soul material converted from the Green Seer's origin was a crystalline green, larger in size. Instead of merging with the soul space immediately, it pooled into a small lake of dark green.

However, Daenerys had no time to study the strange nature of the Green Seer's soul matter. Her priority was to kill the Three-Eyed Raven. Examining the "spoils of war" could wait.

"What did you do…"

"Not telling you! Stay clueless!" Daenerys continued using her Dragonmother skill, entering the "Soul Infusion" state. She focused intensely, burning the Raven's spiritual body while refining the stripped soul force into pure soul matter.

The goals of the Green Seer and the Dragon Horn were the same: to seize control of her dragons.

But the methods to repel them differed.

The Dragon Horn controlled dragons purely through the soul pressure of a high-level Dragonlord. A young dragon facing an elder dragon was like a sheep frozen by a tiger's aura.

As long as Daenerys entered the Triple Dragon Spirit state—combining the power of all three dragons—the resulting pressure exceeded that of the old Dragonlord, rendering the horn's control magic ineffective.

The Green Seer's soul pressure was weaker than a single adult dragon. But like how humans tame beasts with wit and skill, skinchangers had a unique talent: the ability to forcibly overwrite an animal's will with their own—a kind of temporary possession.

Take Varamyr, for example—a frail, aging, small man—yet he managed to possess the legendary shadowcat through his skinchanger gift.

It was obviously not through soul pressure that he tamed the shadowcat.

That's why Daenerys' usual method—soul pressure—was ineffective against the Green Seer.

To be honest, Daenerys hadn't yet found a reliable way to counter his "forcible possession" ability.

Burning, tearing, dragon devouring—none of it could harm the Green Seer's soul origin.

She had almost hit a dead end.

Fortunately, she remembered a bug-like skill she had: Soul Infusion—using fire to transform natural essences into soul matter, then bestowing them onto dragon eggs or dragons.

No matter how tenacious or "immortal" the Green Seer's soul was, its composition—being made of soul matter—couldn't be changed. Before you recover, I'll burn your soul into soul matter.

The effect exceeded her expectations. In direct combat, the Raven was no match for a dragon.

Every torn scrap of flesh from Little White's attacks represented a fragment of soul, which Daenerys burned and refined into soul matter, until—

"Ah—no! Daenerys!"The Raven's head exploded in the flames, turning into smoke, and then dissolved into a rain of soul essence that fell into Daenerys' sea of consciousness.

"Hah… Finally, it's over."Even in spiritual form, Daenerys was panting from exhaustion."But this guy doesn't seem like Bran."

Bran shouldn't be this strong—or this ancient and weathered—unless he had crossed the river of time to converse with her from the future.

But that idea was too far-fetched. If he could twist time itself and influence her will, wouldn't it be better used to save Robb and Eddard?

Clearly, altering the Dragon Queen's will was far more difficult and consequential than changing Robb's or Eddard's fate.

This one was most likely Bran's "white-bearded old grandpa," who would one day pass all his life's wisdom to crippled little Bran, turning the poor boy into the world's strongest skinchanger overnight.

Of course, he wouldn't just pass down skills—he'd pass down his bonds and beliefs.

Not in the clichéd fantasy novel way—where he'd leave Bran a beautiful, lovable granddaughter—but rather through ideals and will. Not quite possession, but Bran's personality and worldview would be completely reshaped.

"Screech—"Little White affectionately nuzzled Daenerys' belly with his big head.

"Quick, while the dragon soul state is still active—come learn meditation with me!"

Daenerys grabbed Little White and instantly left the dragon's magma-like soul space, arriving at her own deep-blue starry-sky soul space.

"Big Black, it's over."Just as Daenerys was about to separate Big Black's meditation vortex, a thought struck her—

What if I send Little White into this massive nine-colored vortex right now?Could the meditation techniques of me, Big Black, and Little White one day achieve perfect threefold fusion?

With only Big Black, I'm already nearing godhood. If Little White joins in—or even all five dragons—then...

"Little White, get in now."The more she thought about it, the more excited Daenerys became. She urged Little White forward.

"Screech—"Little White hesitantly approached the nine-colored vortex.

Bit by bit, he was swallowed. The vortex suddenly expanded to nearly twice its size, spinning faster and faster. The distinct nine colors blurred into a radiant white sphere of light.

"Pop!"

"Pop!"

One phantom-like, one solid—two enormous nine-colored vortices were expelled from the white sphere. The phantom one flew into Little White's soul space; the solid one belonged to Big Black.

Daenerys ignored Little White, who was still forming meditation runes, and immediately entered Big Black's spiritual space.

"My gods… the side effects are this severe?!"Looking at Big Black's meditation vortex, riddled with holes and scars, Daenerys was utterly shocked.
