Ch. 73 - The Great War! [10]

"I have a great plan to fully maximize the Evil Pieces. A tournament game of some sort where every High-Devil with peerage members can play, displaying their intelligence and peerage strength to the public." Handing me a folder, Ajuka proceeded to explain, giving me a gist of his plan.

Not gonna lie, his plan sounds like a goddamn FIFA World Cup or something from my past life.

But still, it does sound good and attractive. No doubt devils, like humans, would love to compare themselves to others of their kind.

It's like comparing their dick size but on a whole another different level!

"So, what's your thoughts?" Ajuka asked.

"It could be improved but overall, it would be a wonderful to watch. Have you ever thought about making a leaderboard about it?" I replied.

"Leaderboard?" It seems like Ajuka's a bit unfamiliar with that word.

"Let's put it like this. If a devil has more wins than the other, he'll be known as the Number One. Now, here's the twist, while he's the Number One, his position can still be stolen if someone dedicated enough gathers more win than him. In other words, it would be a competition not just inside the tournament but overall." The more I speak, the more fascination appears on Ajuka's face.

"This is…amazing. If we implement this, the tournament won't be as boring as I initially assumed. With this Leaderboard, more and more devils will try to climb the ranks and try their best to maintain their position. You're a smart man, Chamber!"

For the first time since I met Ajuka.

He smiled. A genuine smile.

"Not only that but what if the Number One to Three have benefits? Think about it, if you're placed on the first rank, fame, reputation, money, and titles can be given to them, like some sort of social standing. The higher your rank, the more respect the devils will give you…."

There's a reason I came up with this. You see, I remembered my last encounter with Serafall's uncle, Dmitre, the weak low-class devil who wants to climb the ranks through family relations.

If devils crave for attention and recognition, then this game tournament would be their ticket to it.

For the rest of the day, we discussed the potential benefits and processes that the tournament will undergo in the near future.

Before the end, we came up with the name for it.

Rating Games.

The next day, I was standing in the training grounds, instructing the new batch of students I have.

Though some of them looks older than me, that's because they're the new members of the Mystic Society, the former wizards affiliated with Merlin, who are now under my umbrella.

"Wrong! That's not how you conjure a portal, Stella!" I fiercely yelled at the old woman, whose been making the wrong gestures for the past few hours.

How hard is it for them to rotate their arms in a circular motion? Even an elementary student can do the job perfectly!

"I-I'm trying!" Stella, the old witch, yelled in frustration and fear.

Why fear, you might ask?

Because the last time they made a mistake I didn't like, I gave them a Dr. Strange treatment, and by that treatment I meant throwing them to Antartica.

You know what's even more fascinating? The ozone layer of this time hasn't been destroyed yet and there are no things such as Global Warming yet, so the Antartica is much colder than when it is in the modern era.

Trust me, I know. I tried it myself and even with my High-class devil physiology, I can feel the cold trying to pierce through my skin.

"I don't want you to try! I want you to do it!" As if to encourage them, I conjured a bunch of portals on their sides, letting the piercing cold from the other side to hit them.

That's right, on the other side of the portals is the Antarctica.

Fear filled their faces as they tried to maximize their focus on portal conjuration.

"I can't believe I'm being forced like this by a kid that is years younger than me!" I can hear one of them mutter under their breaths.

Can't blame me, I seek quality and quantity at the same time.

"Less talking!" I threatened by enlarging the portals, letting more cold seep through.

Call me harsh or strict but this is my way of instilling discipline and making sure that each and every member of the Mystic Society is top-notch.

Hours passed and more than half of them has finally managed to conjure their own portals.

I congratulated them by letting them have access to the small but meaningful magical library of the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Since it hasn't been a year since the Mystic Society was established, there aren't much books about mystic arts yet. So the library isn't filled to the brim like the one in Kamar-Taj.

You see, in Kamar-Taj, most of the books inside were created by several master sorcerers from the past generations, expressing their opinions and theories about Mystic Spells or the universe.

It's a complicated matter.

In my case, the small library would soon reach the same level of Kamar-Taj's library once more and more sorcerers joins and write their own books that will be added to the library.

For now, the library was painstakingly filled by me alone, all the books inside were written by yours truly.

Three days left until the Great War.

Zekram informed me about the movement of the devils. Large clans such as Gremory, Sitri, Bael and many more are preparing their armies for the inevitable battle.

No doubt this would cause many casualties not just to Devils, Angels and Fallens, but also to humans.

This is why I've been preparing the Mystic Society for the upcoming disaster.

I told them about the upcoming upheaval and suffice to say, their love towards their own kind made it so their learning process became faster.

They started picking up the pace and the prominent figures such as Balthazar were learning spells left and right.

Not only that, some of them decided to band and form a group of magical construction workers, building safe havens for the humans just in case things goes awry and the human world gets destroyed during the war.

In case that happens, the safe haven would ensure humanity won't go full extinction from the Great War.

You might think that the Great War would expose the supernatural world to the humans.

Wrong.

Seraphim Michael contacted me and informed me about their plan to cast a world wide memory wipe spell, making sure that the humans would forget about the war that will occur and go on with their daily lives.

This would be achieved with the help of the Heaven System, whose capabilities far outweighs what I expected it to be.

Turns out, Heaven's System is like some sort of Universal Weapon, capable of manipulating reality itself if the user is strong enough.

And with God himself being its user, it's like handing a gun to the greatest marksman on the universe. A perfect combination.

Hence, why I'm not worried about humans discovering the existence of the Supernatural world. The Heaven would take care of that.

What worries me the most is that God hasn't been visiting me for a while. The last time he did was the day when I met Michael.

Since then, it's like I've lost contact with him. No matter how loud I call for him, he doesn't appear to my side in a flash of light like usual.

It feels unnerving. It's like something from me was taken away.

Is God deliberately avoiding me? Knowing him, he'll do it for my sake.

But why though? It's not like I'm in danger or anything and he doesn't have enough reason to avoid showing up to me.

Sighing, I shook my head from these thoughts and decided to focus on the current situation.

Or at least that's what I was supposed to do until I received a call from Zekram.

[She has escaped! The Apocalypse Beast has escaped on her own!]

When I asked Zekram when did it happen, he simply answered.

[I'm not sure, I just discovered about it now. This is bad, Chamber. The Apocalypse Beast isn't supposed to face him this early. If God defeats her and gets the time to recover, our plan will be messed up!]

'To hell with your plan! I'm more worried about him facing that beast alone than messing up your plans!' I roared in my heart.

Before Zekram could further inform me of the situation, I quickly hanged up on him and prepared myself for the worst.

So that's why he's been avoiding me.

He's been busy dealing with something that I already warned him about.

And what's with been Michael all this time?

He didn't tell me about this during our last call and that call was just two days ago!

Did Michael purposely not tell me about it? Or was something else in play here?

Or was Zekram lying to me?

Or maybe, just maybe God didn't tell anyone.

Dammit, if the latter is the truth then finding him would be a problem.

The Dimensional Gap where the Apocalypse Beast resides is as huge as a universe, an infinitely expanding space.

Even if I spent years looking for them, I wouldn't be able to and only cover 0.01% of its true space.

In layman's terms, it's impossible unless I get the exact coordinates.

And the person I could get those coordinates from was just hanged up by me.

Great. Now who am I gonna call that will help me?

For some reason, a green-haired guy flashed in my head.
