Ch. 97 - The Great War! [34]

As the flames of war was lit and continued to intensify, some remained oblivious to this or simply just doesn't care.

"Seriously. You guys are starting your petty War now? Just when I'm finally on a vacation! Come on!" The God of Messengers, Hermes, complained loudly as he just recently encountered a bunch of devils, angels and sorcerers throwing their attacks back and forth.

As for the village? It has long been evacuated and is now in ruins and turned into a battlefield thanks to their clash.

Right now, Hermes was just looking for a place to stay at as he found himself tired after a moment of indulging in a red light district from a nearby town.

Just as Hermes was tempted to leave and mind his own business, a devil noticed his presence and due to the wings on his boots, it mistaken him as an angel, albeit a weird one.

"DIEEE ANGELS!" Raising his War-axe, the devil jumped directly from the ground and immediately reached Hermes's current altitude.

"Are you kidding me?" Hermes stared at this attempt in a monotone expression. Although the devil's stature is huge and his hideous face is scary, Hermes have seen scarier faces than this.

With a simple flick of his wrist, Hermes back-handed the devil back to the battlefield.

However, that would be a mistake he would soon regret as the other devils have taken notice of him.

"There! Another Angel!" A batch of low-class devils pointed their pointy nails towards Hermes and flew towards him with their weapons brandished.

Hermes's fade twitched slightly.

'Can't I have some peace?! I was just passing by! I wasn't provoking anyone!?' Hermes screamed in his mind as a few devils managed to reach him and waved their weapons towards him.

Hermes, known for his incredible speed, evaded them with ease, in his eyes, these devils were as slow as a snail.

"Weak." He sneered, loud enough for the devils to hear.

He wasn't being arrogant here, no.

He's just stating a mere fact.

Growl!

The devils, upon hearing his words, gritted their teeths in anger.

They were being humiliated right in front of them after all.

"Get his head!" Joining the ranks of devils is a High-class devil, his head also burning in anger.

Although his words weren't directed at him but his anger issues combined with his sheer hate for the angels made it so whatever the Angels say, would always make him mad.

"Get my head? It would take you years before you can even catch up to my speed, much less take my head." Hermes arrogantly sneered as his figure vanished from their sight.

The devils could only hear the sound of wings flapping before their heads were taken from their shoulders.

This session repeated a few more times with several devils. It doesn't matter if it's low or mid-class devil, even a High-class devil was no exception from the decapitation spree.

"Man, this is so fun! Too bad if father discovers this, he would be mad." With a disappointed shake of his head, Hermes took one last glimpse into the battlefield that was now littered with decapitated heads of the devils before flying off into nowhere.

The devils, who were left cowering beneath the fallen corpses of their fellow devils sighed in relief.

Finally, the 'devil' is gone! They all sighed in unison.

They have never encountered such a guy who was not only so fast that not even some Ultimate class devils could react but also likes to decapitate their heads like they're some kind of vulnerable cattles.

"Who was that guy?" They all said under their breaths in unison, including the angels and the humans.

[Chamber PoV]

After settling with the battlefield and sending in the rest of the Mystic Guardians from the Sanctum Sanctorum to other battlefields after all, with the four students gone and kidnapped, there's no point in having them protect the Sanctum Sanctorum.

'How did he get past the Aegis of the Eternal Veil?' I whispered under my breath out of confusion.

After all, the Aegis is supposed to protect the entire village from supernatural beings entering it.

Unless the children went outside the village which is highly unlikely as I specifically told them to stay at the village at all costs.

Which means either Zekram has a means to bypass the barrier I made or he found a loophole against the barrier.

Think Chamber, think!

What do devils use in the marvel world to enter the human world?

Wait a second?!

Suddenly, I finally realized what method that Zekram could've used.

Human possession!

In the Marvel world, some devils has the means to enter the human world and one of the famous and most used ones are possessing the inhabitants of the human world which are the humans themselves!

Goddammit! He must've possessed someone that is already inside the village. A villager probably.

If I were Zekram, in order to possess someone from the village is to wait for them to get out of the protected village and then plant some sort of mark inside the human.

This way, once the marked human goes back inside the village, Zekram can simply trigger the mark and successfully possess the human.

Shit! I should've expected something like this happen, I wasn't just expecting it to happen this soon.

I already know this unconventional method and yet I didn't bother patching it up!

As I was tempted to slap my forehead for being such a failure, I realized it's not worth it.

I might as well save the strength to save my students. After all, it is my fault they found themselves in such a situation.

Let's see, Serafall didn't tell me the exact location, so I'm quite a bit blind here.

Maybe it's one of the meeting locations we used to had or worse, the headquarters of the Bael territory.

Knowing Zekram, he would definitely choose the latter as it is not only the safest place for him, but it is also the place I haven't been into.

Zekram knows about my portal, hence the most convenient location for him is his headquarters.

'That dog.' I clenched my fists as the conclusion I made.

No doubt I am right about this. I've been the one who has been cautious of Zekram the most and longest, so I know his cautiousness better than everyone.

Now, the only left question is how would I infiltrate something as large and protected as Bael Headquarters? I don't even think I would be able to enter its territory without being stopped or questioned.

Should I break through it like a brute?

But by then, Zekram would have been alerted and escaped by the time I get to him.

I need to get to him as quiet as possible.

Haha~

Why am I even having this kind of problem? I just have the perfect spell for it!

"You're a bad man! Bad!" Inside a dimly lit hall, a huge cage can be seen hanging on the ceiling with four children tied inside.

Tam, the usual loud mouth among them was hurling heretical curses upon curses towards their kidnapper.

Meanwhile, Belle, Augustus and Faust were being quiet, taking the moment to try and think of how to get out of this predicament.

Thankfully, with Tam's loud mouth, Zekram's attention weren't on them so they had some time to brainstorm about their escape methods.

[What if we try to have Tam burst open this cage? Then we can go and snatch our rings?] Augustus proposed through the telepathic connection they formed.

The moment they woke up after being forced into a sleep in the village, they realized that they've been robbed of every possession they had and the most important of all were their magic rings that would've allowed them to conjure a portal to escape.

[August. This cage is somehow made of metal that stricts our usage of mana. It somehow suppresses our magic. It's already a miracle you were able to form a telepathic connection with us.] Belle replied, making August blush in embarrassment from being praised.

[W-Well, master always tells me that I'm a magical genius. Maybe it's that…] Embarrassed, Augustus tries to shift the praise to their master, Chamber.

[Guys Guys. I think I have a way to get us out of here…] Faust, who has been quiet since the moment he woke up, finally spoke, interrupting them.

[What?] Belle, eager to escape, asked.

[First, let me tell you something. Before Master took me in. I was able to cause a massive explosion that took out everything and everyone around me out of anger. Master told me that it is some sort of a powerful tool inside me called the Sacred Gear. He intended to help me how to use it again but with his tight schedule, it kept getting delayed.] Faust explanation caused varied reactions from his fellow disciples.

[Explosion?]

[Sacred Gear?]

Both Belle and Augustus turned to him in surprise.

How come they've never heard of this kind of thing before?

[If I could somehow muster to use to again. Maybe we have a chance getting out of here. After all, this cage only suppresses our magical energies but not the Sacred Gear as it is a tool not a magical energy.]

Faust's words were meet with nod of eager heads from Belle and Augustus.

[But how are you going to do it?] Belle asked.

[I'm not sure. Maybe I can just try to feel the same feeling I felt back then. I just need some time.] Hearing his words, Belle and Augustus nodded their heads in unison. Determined to buy enough time for Faust to recall how to use the Sacred Gear.

'Wish us luck.' Belle prayed in her mind. While other part of her wishes that their master knows about their situation and is coming to rescue them right now.

After all, they're still novices and a bunch of rookie, they just recently experienced their first murder and now they were placed in a very difficult situation.

"Master, where are you?" She silently cried to herself.

Unbeknownst to them, a certain someone was already coming to rescue them and she'll make sure she's successful.
