68. The First Step

The ruins of Ared, a once-mighty city brimming with greatness and potential, an abode that had been part of the wonders within Yukov, now a graphic image, a grim reminder of the might evil could wield.

A once lush city, now barren and shattered. Its surroundings had flourished, but now swampy grounds stood guard, warding anyone who dared approach it.

Nonetheless, a group of hardened travelers and warriors moved cautiously through its swamps, their steps slow and deliberate.

The thick mist clung to them like ghostly fingers, swirling around their boots as they navigated the treacherous terrain.

The scent of decay was stronger here, mixed with damp earth and stagnant waters, a sight that had been noticed from far away but had become nigh-overwhelming now that those travelers stood within its proximity.

The ruined city loomed in the distance, half-shrouded by the fog, its jagged spires piercing the sky like broken teeth.
