69. Something Light For The Night

Hours passed, but the same caution we had exercised since entering that shattered city remained. It felt heavy, and it was, but what could we do?

Eiko's leadership remained impeccable, and her identity as a dependable knight revealed itself true. Though, I felt it was too much. As such I stepped forward to help in whatever way I could. Unfortunately, she wouldn't let me.

I lacked her kind of power—her improved sense of smell, hearing, and sensing. Now that she stood at the very edge of the Hill-Stage, she could experience things that had been a bit limited before now.

Unfortunately, even her might proved to be rather minute when compared to the dangers even my lower senses picked up.

It took us quite a while to reach the regions of the city that she said were its edges. Looking to my right I could see the crumbled walls of Ared, the ones that stretched out around it.
