73. Flame-Craft Technique

The starry sky shone unfolded above us, its expanse governed by the somewhat dull moon tonight.

A strange fog dominated the skies of Ared and even shifted towards the ground, limiting sight. Still, that didn't stop me and Eiko from sprinting with nearly our full strength as we made our way towards the shattered citadel. Its peak was mostly obscured by the fog now.

"This would have been the best time for your horses to arrive," I commented, and Eiko snorted in response.

"How was I supposed to know they would end up never escaping the jungle?"

"It was obvious, Eiko; mere stallions cannot survive a jungle filled with as many Ascending Beasts as they were."

She shook her head but remained silent, focusing her attention on the world around her.

I followed behind Eiko since she had better perceptive abilities and could notice cracked streets or any other thing that needed to be dodged.
