Chapter 171: Spirit Power Reaches Level 70

Chapter 171: Spirit Power Reaches Level 70

Early the next morning, Yang Pingan led the six others on their training mission, with the Third Elder, Yang Wuju, following in secret to watch over them. He would only intervene if their lives were truly at risk.

Meanwhile, Yang Potian continued his meditation at home, only to be interrupted when his father, Yang Zhentian, entered with a displeased expression.

"Potian," Yang Zhentian began, his tone stern, "did you tell your grandfather about the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well? Thanks to you, he scolded me at length."

Yang Potian could hardly contain his amusement. "Father, I didn't think it was that big a deal. Besides, it's all for the family's good, isn't it?"

Yang Zhentian sighed, exasperated. "You were the one who first suggested we keep it under wraps, and now you go telling him about it? You set me up, didn't you?"

Yang Potian explained, "I needed Grandfather's help to make some Soulburst Pills, and we didn't have enough medicinal herbs on hand. So I gave him some."

His father narrowed his eyes, seeing through his intent. "You're planning on a hundred-thousand-year spirit ring for your seventh, aren't you? You didn't need to tell him everything! First thing this morning, your grandfather took all the herbs I'd hidden, even the rarest ones, claiming he needed to study them. I'm not even sure I'll get them back."

Yang Potian couldn't help but laugh. "Father, I only mentioned a few extra herbs. It's not my fault he took your rarest plants."

"But why do you need so many Soulburst Pills? The herbs at home should be enough to get you three spirit rings."

"Well, I want more than just three spirit rings, Father. I'll probably need eight or ten, all at the hundred-thousand-year level."

"Why on earth would you need so many? You can't absorb that many!"

Potian finally revealed, "Did Grandfather not tell you? I'm a twin spirit wielder."

Yang Zhentian nodded at first, then blinked in surprise. "Twin spirits—wait, what? You have twin spirits? Why am I only learning this now?"

With no choice, Yang Potian explained everything about his twin spirits and even demonstrated, to which his father could only shake his head in amazement.

After hearing him out, Yang Zhentian finally sighed. "Potian, my boy, you got all my rare herbs taken by your grandfather. Don't you think you should make it up to me?"

Potian was dumbfounded. "That's Grandfather's doing, not mine! I don't have anything left for you. If you want compensation, go to him, not me."

"Oh, by the way, Father, can you give me that Phoenix Crest Sunflower? I have a use for it."

His father looked puzzled. "What do you need a fire-type herb for? It won't do you any good."

"It's very important, Father—trust me, it has a lot to do with the family's future."

After much discussion, his father finally agreed and handed over the Phoenix Crest Sunflower.

When Yang Zhentian left his son's room, he stopped, feeling something was off. "Wait, wasn't I here to get herbs from him? How did I end up handing him the Phoenix Crest Sunflower instead?"

According to his father, the Earth Demon Bear's external spirit bone had already been absorbed by Tianyue, giving her a powerful trump card. Yang Potian was relieved that his only sister now had added protection.

A few days of focused training later, Yang Potian reached level 70, officially stepping into the Spirit Sage rank. His spirit power alone now made him a notable figure in his own right.

Yang Potian immediately sought out Dugu Bo to consult him on something important.

Dugu Bo eyed him with amusement. "Potian, aren't you usually brimming with confidence and knowledge? What's brought you to me for advice?"

Yang Potian greeted him respectfully. "I'm still just a junior, Senior Dugu Bo. Everyone knows that no one rivals your mastery of poisons. Who better to consult about toxins than you?"

Dugu Bo smirked, pleased by the compliment. "Naturally. When it comes to poisons, I fear no one. So, what brings you here today? Is it about what happened with Yan Yan? I haven't forgotten that, and I still plan to settle that score with you someday."

Yang Potian waved his hands quickly. "This time it's something else, Senior. There's no one else who knows this subject like you do."

Dugu Bo was intrigued. "You strange kid. Just ask already."

Potian took a moment before replying. "I'd like to know which toxins are most effective against serpentine spirit beasts."

Dugu Bo stared at him. "What on earth do you need to know that for? Are you planning to use it on me?"

Potian chuckled and shook his head. "No, Senior. I have nothing but respect for you. It's just that I have my eye on a large serpent spirit beast, and I'm hoping to make the hunt easier."

Dugu Bo looked Potian up and down, impressed. "Your spirit power is coming along well. Not even twenty years old, and already a Spirit Sage? That's likely a record. Your seventh spirit ring—is it going to be a hundred-thousand-year ring?"

Potian's silence told Dugu Bo everything. "I knew it," he said, nodding. "You're aiming for a hundred-thousand-year seventh ring. But you're not thinking about the Titan Python in Sunset Forest, are you? It's certainly at the hundred-thousand-year level by now, and many have tried to hunt it—none succeeded. Do you know why?"

Potian looked curious. "Why wouldn't they succeed? Surely it's not that strong. Anyone after a hundred-thousand-year spirit ring would likely be at the ninth ring level. The Spirit Hall could even send three or four Titled Douluo to handle it."

Dugu Bo shook his head. "The Titan Python is indeed powerful, but it's not invincible. The problem is that it's excellent at hiding."

Seeing Potian's confused expression, he continued, "That Python lives in a swamp spanning over ten kilometers. The visibility is terrible, and the Titan Python is a master at concealment. Not even Titled Douluo can easily sense it. The swamp is riddled with snake dens, and the Python can dive into any one of them to escape. No one even knows where the tunnels go."

Potian fell into thought, then asked, "How do you know so much about this Titan Python, Senior?"

Dugu Bo chuckled coldly. "Because I once tried to capture it myself. Even if I couldn't use the ring, a hundred-thousand-year spirit bone would be invaluable. I spent nearly a year in that forest, injured it once, but could never subdue it."

"Spirit Hall even sent two Titled Douluo to hunt it. They staked out the forest for half a year and came back empty-handed."

Yang Potian asked with some curiosity, "Grandpa Dugu, why would you try to hunt down the Titan Python? Only a Titled Douluo can handle a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast. If you were a Titled Douluo, you wouldn't need the spirit ring, and if you're not, then you can't take on the Titan Python."

Dugu Bo shook his head. "I've been trying to find a way to counteract the poison from my Jade Phosphor Serpent spirit. If I had a hundred-thousand-year spirit bone from a Titan Python, it might neutralize the Jade Phosphor poison."

Yang Potian thought for a moment, then asked, "Would centipede venom or toad toxin be effective against the Titan Python?"

Dugu Bo considered this. "Those are indeed natural enemies of snakes, but to be effective against a Titan Python, the venom would need to be from a ten-thousand-year-old centipede or toad. And you'd need a massive quantity of it to have any effect."

"But think about it," he continued, "that swamp is enormous. How much poison would you need to fill it?"

Yang Potian's face set in determination. "As long as it works, that Titan Python is as good as dead."

Dugu Bo still looked skeptical. "Even if you managed to poison it, once the Titan Python realizes it's affected, it'll go into hiding. In that swamp, it's far more likely to ambush you than the other way around."

Yang Potian shook his head. "If we can drive it mad, it won't hide. A maddened venomous snake won't retreat."

Instead of trying to find a rare ten-thousand-year venomous toad, Potian remembered the secret Poison Array technique of his clan. This mixture combined seven lethal toxins, at least one of which was bound to affect a serpent. By flooding the swamp with the potent poison known as Bloody Mary, the Titan Python would be driven to frenzy, making it much easier to fight and kill.

Bloody Mary, a toxin associated with the God of Asura, was a lethal poison that no creature on the continent—whether spirit beast or spirit master—could entirely withstand. The only possible counter might be the purifying power of a Six-Winged Angel spirit.

"Anything else you need, little monster?" Dugu Bo asked, noting the intensity of Potian's expression.

Potian thought for a moment before asking, "Grandpa Dugu, how did you create your Poison Core?"

Dugu Bo sighed, exasperated. "Why are you always so interested in my techniques? You're not planning to use them against me, are you?"

Potian responded, "No, not at all! I'm just thinking, if I could make my spirit power function like your Poison Core, it might circulate on its own, and I'd be able to cultivate much faster."

Dugu Bo chuckled. "You really are a little monster with a lot of ideas. I created the Poison Core by condensing all the toxins from my spirit into one form, hoping to purge them from my body. It was an accidental discovery. The method isn't complex, but if you're not careful, it could blow you up in the process."

Dugu Bo then removed a gleaming Poison Core from his mouth and handed it to Potian. "Take a close look. You should be able to figure out how I made it just by examining it."

Potian took the Poison Core, noting its mirror-like surface and faintly visible patterns. As he focused his spiritual energy on it, an intricate system of circulation within the core gradually revealed itself.

After a long examination, Potian grinned. "Grandpa Dugu, thank you! I'll borrow this Poison Core for a while, and I promise I'll return it after I've studied it."

Potian began to imagine that if he combined the method used to form the Poison Core with the Starfall Spirit Pearl, he could potentially develop a method for creating spirit cores. If successful, this would drastically elevate his family's strength.
