Threads of Trust

The camp bustled with quiet activity as the new day broke. Tobi stretched, his back aching from the uneven ground he had slept on. 

Around him, the surface dwellers moved with practiced efficiency, their lives rooted in survival. 

Tobi couldn't help but admire their adaptability though it was clear they viewed the newcomers with guarded eyes.

Hannah approached, her brow furrowed. "Alfred wants us to meet him by the southern field. Says he has something to show us."

Tobi grabbed his gear and nodded. "Let's see what we're dealing with."

Neon and Moritaka joined them as they headed toward the field. Alfred stood waiting, his expression grim. Beside him was Agatha, her aged face betraying an air of concern.

"You claim to be reclaiming the surface," Alfred said without preamble, gesturing to the forest beyond the camp.
