The council's orders hung heavy in the air as Tobi made his way back to the barracks. His mind churned with questions and doubts, but one thing was certain, they needed to prepare for their return to the surface, and they needed to do it right.
When he entered the room, Moritaka was already seated on his cot, methodically inspecting his weapon. His blade gleamed in the faint light, sharpened to a deadly edge.
"You're taking this well," Tobi said, tossing his gear onto his own cot.
Moritaka glanced up, his expression unreadable. "Complaining won't change the orders. Preparing will."
"Feels like we just got back, and now we're headed out again," Tobi remarked.
Moritaka didn't look up. "That's the job. But this time, we know more about what we're up against. We've seen the creatures, the corruption. And the surface dwellers… they're a factor we can't ignore."
