Cassandra carefully approached the man who shouldn't be near her or in town. What was he thinking being so out in the open like this and walking so close to her?

"Look at you. You've turned yourself into a lady fast."

Cassandra grabbed his hand and pulled him out of sight before someone could see them. He was lucky all attention was on Selene at the moment. "What are you doing, Bryce?"

"I wanted to see that you were in safe hands and by the looks of it you are. Though for a second there you looked like you wanted to kill the woman beside you," said Bryce.

Cassandra couldn't deny it since Lucinda was a headache. 'That is his mother. You know we can't talk like this. There are vampires all around."

Bryce looked around the town he was recently getting used to. "I know. That's why I have something to keep us safe," he showed a small stone. "This little thing was expensive even though it will wear off soon."
